Why do you need ultrasound of blood vessels
The terrible abbreviation UZDG stands for ultrasound dopplerography of blood vessels. This is one of the diagnostic methods using ultrasound, which allows you to accurately determine the violation of blood circulation in the vessels, or its absence. It is important that this method is inexpensive and at the same time quite informative. Doppler ultrasonography is used to study the state of arteries and veins, while the size of the vessel can be any - from a large vein to a small arteriole. With the help of ultrasound scan of vessels, the state of the blood flow and vascular bed of the arteries and veins of the head (superficial and intracranial), neck, internal organs, extremities, vessels of the eyes is examined.
The USDG method of vessels is also convenient for the patient. It refers to non-invasive hardware techniques, the word "non-invasive" means that no penetration is required for diagnostic manipulation. Doppler ultrasound resembles conventional ultrasound diagnostics: a person lies down on a couch, exposes the area under study (a projection of a vessel necessary for studying), a doctor uses a sensor to read the necessary parameters. In time, the procedure takes from 20 minutes to an hour.
Doppler ultrasonography of vessels, or, as it is also called, ultrasound angiography, reveals the state of the lumen of the vessel, vessel walls, their tortuosity, the state of the valve apparatus of the veins, the presence of stenoses (pathological narrowings) and protrusions, measure the blood flow rate, which is necessary to assess its quality. The importance of ultrasonic ultrasound of blood vessels and the information obtained with its help can be appreciated if we remember that diseases of the cardiovascular system and their complications are the main cause of death in people all over the world.
Diagnostics with the help of ultrasonography of blood vessels is prescribed in the following cases:
- With violations of blood pressure in any direction;
- With persistent headaches;
- With pain in the heart, shortness of breath and other symptoms of cardiac dysfunction;
- With recurrent fainting;
- With signs of impaired brain activity;
- With signs of circulatory failure in the limbs;
- With a sudden deterioration in vision;
- For sleep disorders;
- With increased fatigue;
- With varicose veins.
Simply put, ultrasound of the vessels is indicated for any suspicion of vascular pathology. The method has no contraindications, just like a conventional ultrasound scan, it is absolutely harmless and can be used even in infants.
