Due to the high content of organic acids, figs are a natural antimicrobial agent, they are rich in vitamins and trace elements. Providing a disinfecting effect locally, directly in the throat, it contributes to a speedy recovery from colds and the general strengthening of immunity. A warm drink warms up the tissues, helping to improve blood circulation and quickly resolve inflammation.

Despite the fact that fig milk is generally safe, you should consult your doctor regarding its use as a remedy. The fact is that its actions are often not enough to act as the main treatment, and besides, like any medicine, even homemade, such a medicine has a number of contraindications.

How to cook and take fig milk

For the preparation of the medicine, it is advisable to take fresh homemade milk, but fatty purchased milk is also suitable. The fact is that the fattier the milk, the more pronounced its emollient effect. It is recommended to use a milk-based product with a fat content of 3.2% or more, it is optimal for the extraction of nutrients from the fruit and well envelops the mucous membrane. The exception is small children, they have too fat milk can cause stomach upset.

Figs can be taken both fresh and dried (dried). The main thing is not to use unripe fruits - they contain caustic milky juice, this will not only spoil the taste of the drink, but instead of softening it will have an irritating effect.

Before taking this fig cough milk, make sure you are not allergic to figs or lactose intolerant.

Unless the attending physician has indicated otherwise, children under 7 years of age are advised to take 40 ml of the product three to five times a day after meals, for children of the older age group - to drink from ¼ to ½ glass. Dosage for adults - half a glass of a drink with increased coughing attacks.

The drink is taken warm (but not hot!), The portion is drunk in small sips.

Home remedies for cough milk with figs: recipes

The most popular recipe for cough milk figs is simple enough to be repeated at home.

Two glasses of milk are poured into a small saucepan and placed over low heat. Several figs are crushed and added there, after which the mixture should be brought to a boil and cooked over low heat until the amount of liquid decreases by a third, and the product acquires a thicker consistency. When this happens, the pan is removed from the heat, covered with a lid, and wrapped in a towel, scarf or blanket - something that can provide good thermal insulation. The finished mixture is infused in this form for a few more hours, during which time the liquid will not have time to cool completely, but the figs will give all their useful properties to milk, because of which it will acquire the effect of a real medicine. A properly prepared drink is thick, sweet, gently envelops the mucous membrane.

It is impossible to cool the drink in the refrigerator, since the fat and liquid fraction of milk will separate, and the drink will lose some of its beneficial properties. However, after the fig milk has cooled down, it can be refrigerated and stored there for 1-2 days. For reuse, it must be heated - in a water bath or in a microwave oven.

If you are lactose intolerant, you can prepare the drug without milk, using only figs. 3-4 fruits are chopped, poured over with two glasses of water and put on low heat. After boiling, a glass of sugar is added, the mixture is thoroughly stirred and boiled for half an hour, during which the syrup becomes thicker. After half an hour, it is removed from the heat and allowed to cool. You can add lemon or honey to fig syrup. Reviews about him are no worse than about fig milk, it helps well with colds.
