Menstruation pain - what to do?
In some sources, you can find the following phrase: pain during menstruation is an inevitable evil, you need to accept it, and just drink painkillers these days. To put it mildly, this is not true. There is an interesting observation: women living in tribes in remote corners of the Earth, leading a lifestyle close to the primitive, do not experience pain during menstruation. So far, they have not been able to explain this phenomenon convincingly, except that there are suggestions that the way of life of such women is closer to the natural, and therefore healthier.
Menstrual pain has a medical name, algomenorrhea. It is primary and secondary. Secondary is a symptom of the underlying disease. For example, a symptom of endometriosis or uterine fibroids. Primary algomenorrhea often accompanies the formation of the menstrual cycle in girls; at a later age, it can be a sign of underdevelopment of the internal genital organs (the so-called "baby uterus"). Therefore, the first thing to do with painful menstruation is to undergo a gynecological examination. If it turns out that the pain during menstruation is caused by a disease, it must be treated, this will be the main therapy for algomenorrhea.
However, sometimes the survey shows nothing. Everything is normal, there are no deviations in development and anatomical structure, but there is pain on critical days, and the cause cannot be established. What to do in this case? The simplest and most incorrect way of treatment is the use of pain relievers. It must be remembered that anesthesia is not a treatment, it is just a disabling of pain, and all medications, without exception, have a side effect, and you need to turn to them as a last resort. In addition, menstrual pain of such intensity that requires the use of anesthetics is not unreasonable.
In cases where the cause cannot be established, general recovery helps well. Normalization of lifestyle and nutrition, not burdensome, but regular physical activity, eliminating congestion in the small pelvis, giving up bad habits, especially smoking. Some women are helped by such a non-trivial remedy as sex during menstruation, only it must be practiced exclusively with a regular partner, otherwise the risk of infection in the genital tract increases. The techniques of oriental medicine have a calming, analgesic and relaxing effect: acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy. There is no single recipe for everyone, but there are many effective ones, and having set a goal, it is not so difficult to find the right product.
