Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Phenylpiracetam is a nootropic agent that has a pronounced antiamnestic effect. The active substance has a direct stimulating effect on the integrative activity of the brain. The drug promotes memory consolidation, improves concentration and mental activity, facilitates the learning process, increases the speed of information transfer between the cerebral hemispheres and the resistance of the brain tissue to toxic effects and hypoxia. The tool normalizes the course of excitation and inhibition processes in the central nervous system (CNS), demonstrates anxiolytic activity and anticonvulsant properties, and improves mood.
The active substance has a positive effect on blood circulation and metabolic processes in the brain, stimulates redox reactions. As a result of increased glucose utilization, it increases the energy potential of the body. In ischemic areas of the brain, it leads to an improvement in regional blood flow. Phenylpiracetam increases the level of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, does not affect the concentration of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and does not interact with GABA A and GABA B receptors. Spontaneous bioelectrical activity of the brain is not significantly affected by fonturacetam.
With course use, the drug exhibits anorexigenic activity, has an unexpressed diuretic effect. Does not affect respiration and cardiovascular system (CVS). To a moderate extent, it affects motor reactions, enhances physical performance.
The psychostimulating effect of the drug dominates in the ideational sphere, its moderate psychostimulating effect is combined with anxiolytic activity. Phenylpiracetam improves mood, by increasing the pain threshold it provides a certain analgesic effect.
Promotes an increase in the body's resistance to stress against the background of intense physical and psycho-emotional stress, excessive fatigue, at low temperatures, immobilization, hypokinesia. During treatment with phonylpiracetam, an improvement in vision is recorded, manifested in an increase in acuity, brightness and visual fields. The active substance improves the blood supply to the lower extremities. It has immunostimulating properties, as evidenced by the increased production of antibodies with the introduction of antigen, but at the same time does not cause the development of immediate hypersensitivity and does not lead to a change in the allergic inflammatory reaction of the skin caused by the introduction of a foreign protein.
In the case of course use of Phenylpiracetam, tolerance, drug dependence, withdrawal syndrome do not develop. The effect of the agent is noted already with the introduction of a single dose, which is of great importance when used in extreme conditions.
No carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic and embryotoxic properties were found in the agent, it has low toxicity, in an acute experiment its lethal dose is 800 mg / kg.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is quickly absorbed, penetrates into various tissues and organs, easily overcomes the blood-brain barrier. After oral administration, the absolute bioavailability of fonturacetam is 100%, the maximum concentration (C max) in the blood is observed after 1 hour, the half-life (T 1/2) is 3-5 hours.
In the body, the agent is not metabolized. In unchanged form, it is eliminated in the urine on average 40% of the drug, with bile and then - 60%.
Indications for use
- lesions of the central nervous system of various origins, mainly associated with vascular pathologies and impaired cerebral metabolism, intoxication (including with manifestations of chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency and post-traumatic conditions), accompanied by a decrease in intellectual-mnestic functions and motor activity;
- psychoorganic syndromes, the symptoms of which include intellectual-mnestic disorders and apathic-abulic phenomena; sluggish states in schizophrenia;
- violations of the learning process;
- neurotic conditions characterized by increased exhaustion, lethargy, weakening of psychomotor activity, memory impairment, impaired attention;
- convulsive conditions;
- alimentary-constitutional (primary) obesity;
- hypoxia (prevention);
- chronic alcoholism (to reduce the severity of the phenomena of intellectual-mnestic disorders, asthenia);
- inversion of the “sleep - wakefulness” cycle, correction of the daily biorhythm.
Phenylpiracetam is also recommended for use in order to correct the functional state against the background of extreme conditions of professional activity to prevent fatigue and to enhance mental and physical performance, in stressful situations in order to increase the body's stability.
