Syrup Normase
Syrup Normase

Normase is a laxative that stimulates intestinal motility, improves the absorption of calcium and phosphate salts, and has a hypoammonoemic and hyperosmotic effect.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - syrup: transparent, colorless or light yellow with a brownish tint (200 ml in dark glass bottles, in a cardboard box 1 bottle with a measuring cup and instructions for use for Normaze).

Active ingredient: lactulose, its content in 1 g of syrup is 0.667 g.

Additional components: purified water, citric acid, creamy flavor (vanillin, dihydrocoumarin and propylene glycol).

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Lactulose is a substance with a laxative, hyperosmotic, hypoammonaemic effect, improves the absorption of calcium salts and phosphates, stimulates intestinal motility.

Under the influence of lactulose, there is a change in the flora of the colon (due to an increase in the number of lactobacilli). This leads to an increase in acidity in the lumen of the colon and stimulates peristalsis. At the same time, the volume of feces increases and their softening occurs. Thus, Normase exhibits a laxative effect without directly affecting the smooth muscles and the mucous membrane of the colon.

Ammonia under the action of the drug passes from the blood to the intestine, which helps to reduce the formation of nitrogen-containing toxic substances in its proximal section and, therefore, their absorption into the vena cava system.

The action of Normase can develop quickly or be delayed (after 24–48 hours).

Lactulose has the ability to inhibit the growth of Salmonella in the colon. It is not addictive and does not reduce the absorption of vitamins.

Pharmacokinetics

Lactulose has low absorption.

It is excreted unchanged through the intestines, 3% is excreted by the kidneys.
