Prostakor is a drug of animal origin for the treatment of prostate diseases.
Release form and composition
- Solution for intramuscular injection: light yellow in color, has a specific odor (in 1 ml ampoules, 10 ampoules in a carton pack; 1 ml ampoules, 5 ampoules in blisters, 1 or 2 cartons in a carton pack);
- Lyophilisate for the preparation of a solution for intramuscular administration: white or yellowish-white (in ampoules, in a carton pack 10 ampoules or 2 blister packs of 5 ampoules).
The active substance of the drug: prostacor (prostate extract, water-soluble peptides), in 1 ampoule of solution and 1 ampoule of lyophilisate - 5 mg each.
Excipients of the solution: maltose monohydrate and water for injection.
An additional component of the lyophilisate: glycine.
Pharmacological properties
The action of Prostacor injections is aimed at normalizing metabolism in the prostate gland, the drug has antiplatelet activity.
The main effects of using the drug:
- reduction of edema, leukocyte infiltration and thrombosis of prostate venules;
- normalization of the secretory function of epithelial cells;
- stimulating the muscle tone of the bladder;
- an increase in the number of lecithin grains in the secretion of the acini of the prostate gland;
- reduction of thrombus formation.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Prostakor is a drug for the treatment of chronic prostatitis and complications after surgery on the prostate gland.
Contraindications
Prostakor's injections are contraindicated in patients under the age of 18, as well as in the presence of individual hypersensitivity to the components.
Instructions for use of Prostakor: method and dosage
The drug is intended for intramuscular administration.
Lyophilisate immediately before administration is diluted with 1 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution, 0.25-0.5% novocaine solution or injection water.
Adult patients are prescribed 5-10 mg once a day for a course of 5-10 days.
If necessary, after a break (from 1 to 6 months), a second course of treatment is carried out.

Allergic reactions are possible.

Pediatric use
