Thyroidin is a drug for the treatment of conditions arising from dysfunction of the thyroid gland.
pharmachologic effect
Thyroidin is a hormonal agent, the action of which is realized due to thyroid hormones: T2 - thyroxine and T3 - triiodothyronine.
Under the action of Thyroidin, the function of the thyroid gland decreases, the thyroid-stimulating activity of the pituitary gland.
It is also noticed that taking Thyroidin stimulates the growth of tissues, increases their need for oxygen, has a positive effect on energy processes, on the state of the nervous, cardiovascular systems, kidneys, liver, promotes the absorption of glucose, its utilization, and enhances cholesterol metabolism.

Thyroidin is available in powder form, tablets.
Indications for use
The medicine is prescribed for cretinism - a congenital insufficiency of the thyroid gland, causing inhibition of physical and mental development; with myxedema - a sharp deterioration in the functioning of the thyroid gland; primary hypothyroidism; with cerebral-pituitary diseases.
In addition, Thyroidin can be taken for thyroid cancer; with obesity, complicated by hypothyroidism; with endemic, sporadic goiter.
Thyroidin instruction - method of application
The drug is taken only orally, the doctor usually prescribes the dosage after receiving the results of the examination.
The standard dosage regimen for Thyroidin looks like this: adults with hypothyroidism, myxedema are prescribed 0.05-0.2 g per day. The drug should be taken in this dosage until the pulse is restored, the metabolism improves, and the cholesterol level stabilizes.
For the treatment of endemic, diffuse euthyroid and sporadic goiter, 0.1-0.2 g of Thyroidin is prescribed. The dosage in the course of therapy is reduced to 0.05-0.1 g.
For the treatment of toxic goiter, the drug is prescribed in a daily dosage of 0.05 g.
For cancer of the gland, after radiation therapy or tumor removal, Thyroidin is taken at a dosage of 0.2-0.3 g per day.
Take Thyroidin every other day. The dosage is gradually increased to 0.15-0.2 g. To increase the effect of treatment, the hormonal drug is combined with antithyroid drugs.
Children under one year old can be given Thyroidin, but not in tablets, but in granules. Before use, the drug is mixed with water or jelly - 2-3 spoons.
Children with hypothyroidism, myxedema can be prescribed medication in the following daily dosages: 10-14 years old - 0.45 grams; 7-9 years old - 0.3 grams; 5-6 years old - 0.25 grams; 3-4 g - 0.15 grams; 2 g - 0.09 grams; half a year - 1 year - 0.06 grams; up to six months - 0.03 grams.
The maximum allowable dosage of Thyroidin for adults is 1 gram per day.
The effect of Thyroidin is noticeable after two or three days of therapy, but it should be continued until 3 weeks or a month.
Side effects of Thyroidin
With the wrong use of Thyroidin - an overestimation of its dose, angina pectoris, tachycardia may begin, allergies may appear, increased sweating, increased excitability, diabetes may worsen, sleep may be disturbed.
Contraindications
Thyroidin according to the instructions cannot be prescribed for Addison's disease, diabetes mellitus, general exhaustion, thyrotoxicosis, severe coronary insufficiency.
