Release form and composition

Dosage form Tantum Verde Forte is a spray for topical application, dosed: a colorless transparent liquid with a characteristic mint smell (in 15 ml polyethylene bottles with a pump and a pressure device, including a folding cannula, in a cardboard box 1 bottle).

Composition of 10 ml spray:

• active substance: benzydamine hydrochloride - 30 mg;
• auxiliary components: glycerol - 500 mg; 96% ethanol - 800 mg; macrogol glyceryl hydroxystearate - 150 mg; menthol flavor (flavoring agent) - 50 mg; methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 10 mg; sodium saccharinate - 7 mg; purified water - up to 10 ml.

Tantum Verde forte is a local non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a drug from the indazole group. It has anti-inflammatory and local anesthetic properties, has an antiseptic effect against a wide range of microorganisms.

The mechanism of action of Tantum Verde forte is due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and stabilization of cell membranes.

The antibacterial effect of benzydamine occurs due to the rapid penetration of microorganisms through the membranes, which leads to subsequent damage to cellular structures, disruption of metabolic processes and cell lysis.

Has antifungal action against Candida albicans. It leads to structural modifications of the cell wall of fungi and metabolic chains, which prevents their reproduction. This property is the basis for the use of Tantum Verde forte for the treatment of inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, including infectious etiology.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, Tantum Verde forte is well absorbed through the mucous membranes, penetrating into the inflamed tissues, and is found in the blood plasma in an amount insufficient to obtain systemic effects.

It is excreted mainly by the kidneys in the form of inactive metabolites or conjugation products.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Tantum Verde forte is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of pain syndrome of inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and ENT organs (of various etiologies):

• conditions after surgery and injuries (fractures of the jaw, tonsillectomy);
• glossitis, gingivitis, stomatitis (including after radiation and chemotherapy);
• calculous inflammation of the salivary glands;
• candidiasis of the oral mucosa (along with other drugs);
• laryngitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis;
• periodontal disease;
• conditions after tooth extraction / treatment.

In the treatment of inflammatory / infectious diseases that require systemic treatment, Tantum Verde Forte is used in combination with other drugs.

Contraindications

Absolute:

• age up to 18 years;
• pregnancy and lactation;
• individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Relative (diseases / conditions in the presence of which the appointment of Tantum Verde forte requires caution):

• hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
• bronchial asthma (including a burdened history).

Instructions for use Tantum Verde Forte: method and dosage

Spray Tantum Verde Forte is applied topically after meals. The adhesion of benzydamine occurs on the mucous membrane, due to which the drug has a lasting effect.

When the pump is pressed once, about 170 mg of the drug (0.51 mg of benzydamine hydrochloride) is released.

Usually 2-4 doses are prescribed, 2 to 6 times a day.

The course of treatment for odonto-dental pathology is 6–25 days, for inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity - 4–15 days, after surgery (tonsillectomy) and injuries (jaw fractures) - 4–7 days.

If it is necessary to use the drug for more than 7 days, a medical consultation is required.

To use the spray, you need to raise the cannula, insert it into the oral cavity and direct it to the inflamed area, then press the cap (indicated by the arrow).

In case of insufficient effect or its absence, it is necessary to consult a specialist.

Side effects

Possible adverse reactions (> 10% - very often;> 1% and 0.1% and 0.01% and <0.1% - rarely; <0.01% - very rare; with an unknown frequency - in cases where it is not possible to assess the frequency of occurrence of violations):

• allergic reactions: infrequently - photosensitivity; rarely - hypersensitivity reactions (drug withdrawal is required), itching / rash; very rarely - laryngospasm, angioedema; with an unknown frequency - anaphylactic reactions;
• local reactions: rarely - dryness, burning sensation in the mouth; with an unspecified frequency - a feeling of numbness, localized in the oral cavity.

Overdose

There are no reports of overdose cases. The development of an overdose while observing the dosing regimen is unlikely.

The main symptoms that may occur if the drug is accidentally swallowed: fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fear, anxiety, convulsions, hallucinations, respiratory depression, ataxia, tachycardia.

The antidote is unknown.

Therapy: symptomatic, including gastric lavage.

In patients with ulcerative lesions of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx, the duration of the use of Tantum Verde forte should not exceed three days.
