Release form and composition
The drug is produced in the form of a solution for intra-articular injections (2 ml in a disposable syringe-tube, 1 syringe-tube in a blister, 1 blister in a cardboard box and instructions for the use of Suplazin).
2 ml of the drug (1 syringe) contains:
- active substance: sodium salt of hyaluronic acid - 20 mg;
- additional components: phosphate buffer solution, sodium chloride solution.
Pharmacological properties
Suplazin contains hyaluronic acid, a physiological ingredient in synovial fluid that plays a major role in maintaining the joint's normal state and providing it with biological lubrication. Hyaluronic acid belongs to the prototypes of a wide range of biopolymers (mucopolysaccharides, glycosaminoglycans), which are important components of all extracellular structures, including articular cartilage tissues and synovial fluid.
The active component of the agent is a specific highly purified fraction of hyaluronic acid, which has a certain length of the molecular chain. After injection into the synovial cavity, the drug helps to normalize the state of the joint after arthrocentesis.
Indications for use

Contraindications

Suplazin solution is administered intraarticularly.
Before injection, the drug must be warmed to room temperature. Depending on the size of the joint, no more than 2 ml of the drug can be injected into its cavity.
In accordance with the standard dosing regimen, it is recommended, with strict adherence to the rules of asepsis, to inject 2 ml of the drug in a disposable syringe into the cavity of the problem joint 1 time in 7 days for 3 weeks. You can use the drug to treat multiple joints at the same time. In a chronic process, if necessary, the course can be 6 injections, the frequency of injections is 1 time per 7 days. After the injection, the patient should be at rest, without loading the affected joint for 24–48 hours; it is also required to avoid any physical activity during the entire course of therapy.
Injection technique:
- Remove the blister from the cardboard packaging.
- After making sure that there is no violation of the integrity and damage of the blister, open it by pulling the paper film by the tab.
- Take out the syringe and remove the rubber cap of its adapter.
- Connect the syringe with a needle of the required gauge, which should be prepared in advance, taking into account the patient's characteristics (needles of a gauge of 21-25 G are recommended, depending on the joint).
- Check the tightness of the needle / adapter connection; The graduation printed on the syringe should only be used as a volume indicator.
- Administer the drug in accordance with standard intra-articular injection practice. The syringe is equipped with a finger rest for ease of administration; the piston stroke is smooth, without jerks.
- Any amount of unused drug residue in the syringe must be disposed of.
Side effects
