Spazmalgon is a drug that is a combination of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, an antispasmodic and an M-anticholinergic. According to the mechanism of action, the drug Spazmalgon belongs to the group of analgesics with a pronounced antispasmodic effect.

The mechanism of action is based on the pharmacological effects of the substances that make up Spazmalgon.

Composition of the preparation

Spazmalgon contains the following active ingredients:

• metamizole sodium is a substance belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, pyrazolone derivatives. This medicinal substance has a strong analgesic (analgesic) effect, and also has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic (antipyretic) effects. The mechanism of action of this drug is to inhibit the cyclooxygenase pathway of conversion of arachidonic acid, resulting in a decrease in the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, thromboxane and prostacyclins. Metamizole sodium equally inhibits both isoforms of cyclooxygenase - COX-1, COX-2. Thus, the analgesic effect of metamizole sodium, which is part of Spazmalgon, is based on inhibition of the influence of inflammatory mediators on the endings of pain receptors;
• pitofenone hydrochloride is a substance from the group of piperidine derivatives, a myotropic antispasmodic. Has a papaverine-like effect, effectively reduces the tone of smooth muscles. The presence of this component in the composition of Spazmalgon helps to eliminate pain caused precisely by the spasm of the smooth muscles of the internal organs;

fenpiverinium bromide is a drug from the group of M-anticholinergics. It causes a decrease in spasm of smooth muscles located in internal organs, reduces the motility of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as the biliary and urinary tract

The components that make up Spazmalgon are rather quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, their maximum concentration in the plasma is observed an hour after the application of Spazmalgon. Bioavailability reaches about 85%.

Indications for use

Due to the unique composition of Spazmalgon, the indications for its appointment are quite extensive.

Tableted Spazmalgon is used in the symptomatic treatment of mild or moderate pain syndrome, in particular for the following diseases:

• pathology of the urinary system with pain syndrome and impaired urination, including inflammatory diseases and urolithiasis;
• Spazmalgon is used for intestinal and gastric colic, as well as other pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by spasm of smooth muscle cells;
• cholelithiasis;
• dyskinesia of the gastrointestinal tract.

With pain syndrome accompanying dysmenorrhea, as well as with pathology of the musculoskeletal system, it is possible to use tableted Spazmalgon.

Indications for the use of Spazmalgon in injectable form are relief of high-intensity pain syndrome in renal colic and other pathology of MVS, postcholecystectomy syndrome, hepatic colic and other diseases of the abdominal cavity and small pelvis.

Ways of using Spazmalgon

According to the instructions, Spazmalgon in the form of tablets is used orally, without crushing the tablet, drinking plenty of water. According to the indications, Spazmalgon can be taken in half the dose; for this, the tablet should be broken along the line.

The duration of treatment and the dosage of Spazmalgon depend on the specific nosological unit and are determined solely by the doctor.

The dosage of Spazmalgon for adults and adolescents from 15 years old is usually 1-2 tablets, which are taken 2-3 times a day.

Dosage for children 13-15 years old - 1 tablet with the same frequency of administration (no more than three tablets per day).

Dosage for children 9-13 years old - half a tablet maximum three times a day.

Contraindications for use
