Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Oligovit is a combined multivitamin multimineral preparation, which contains 10 vitamins and 10 minerals, designed to replenish the body's need for useful nutrients in order to compensate for their deficiency in the diet.
The vitamins and minerals included in Oligovit are directly involved in all important biochemical processes occurring in the body, are necessary for its normal growth, development and functioning, and regulate metabolism.
The pharmacological effectiveness of the vitamin-mineral complex is due to the properties of the following active components that make up its composition:
- Vitamin A (retinol and other retinoids): supports the growth and development of tissues (bone, epithelial), is necessary to maintain the organ of vision and the immune system;
- Vitamin D (cholecalciferol, ergocalciferol): a fat-soluble vitamin that regulates calcium-phosphorus metabolism;
- Vitamin E (tocopherol, α-tocopherol): prevents the oxidation of PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) in cell membranes;
- Vitamin B 1 (thiamine): a coenzyme necessary in the metabolism of carbohydrates, is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses;
- Vitamin B 2 (riboflavin, or lactoflavin): one of the components of FMN (flavin mononucleotide) and FAD (flavin adenine dinucleotide), which are necessary for normal metabolism;
- Vitamin B 3 (nicotinamide, niacin, vitamin PP, nicotinic acid): is part of the cofactors NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) and is part of the glucose tolerance factor;
- Vitamin B 5 (pantothenate, pantothenic acid): primarily functions as part of coenzyme A, takes part in the production of antibodies and hormones;
- Vitamin B 6 (pyridoxine): participates in the synthesis of enzymes necessary in metabolic processes, as well as in the biosynthesis of hemoglobin and neurotransmitters;
- Vitamin B 12 (cyanocobalamin): in the synthesis of nucleic acids it functions as a coenzyme, takes part in metabolic processes together with folic acid;
- Vitamin C (ascorbic acid): essential for the normal function of the immune system, as well as the growth, development and condition of the skin, teeth, bones, capillary endothelium;
- Calcium (Ca): plays an important role in the formation of bone tissue, takes part in the process of blood coagulation; calcium ions, in addition, are one of the universal secondary mediators in the regulation of various intracellular processes;
- Iron (Fe): an essential element necessary for the functioning of hemoglobin, it is part of the oxygen depot in the muscles;
- Magnesium (Mg): maintains the integrity of the cellular structure, important for electrolyte balance;
- Potassium (K) is involved in maintaining the transmembrane potential and the normal level of intracellular osmotic pressure;
- Zinc (Zn): as part of various coenzymes, it participates in biochemical processes, for example, in the synthesis and metabolism of lipids and proteins;
- Copper (Cu): participates in metabolic reactions and in protein synthesis;
- Manganese (Mn): Provides various enzymatic reactions in the body;
- Fluorine (F): promotes the formation of tooth enamel, stimulates immunity and hematopoiesis, increases the stability of tooth enamel, participates in the growth of the skeleton, prevents osteoporosis;
- Molybdenum (Mb): in the composition of metalloenzymes (cofactor) it is responsible for the detoxification of the body, affects the use of iron stores, activates the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, which play an important role in the functioning of the nervous system and the brain, contributes to the retention of fluoride in the body, strengthens the enamel of the teeth and protects them from destruction;
- Cobalt (Co): in the composition of vitamin B 12, it participates in hematopoiesis and enzymatic reactions, affects the nervous system and liver.
Indications for use
Dragee (coated tablets) Oligovit is recommended to be taken in order to prevent hypovitaminosis and deficiency of minerals that make up the vitamin-mineral complex, with inadequate (unbalanced) nutrition.

Side effects
Possible side reactions from organs and systems based on information about the potential pharmacological action of the active substances that make up Oligovit:
- Immune system: hypersensitivity reactions - anaphylactic shock, angioedema, hyperthermia, skin redness, skin rash, itching, urticaria; rarely - bronchospasm, etc.;
- Gastrointestinal tract (GIT): nausea / vomiting, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, increased production of gastric juice, belching, heartburn;
- Nervous system: dizziness, headache, hyperexcitability, drowsiness;
- Others: visual impairment, hyperhidrosis, intense yellow urine; as a result of long-term use of high doses - irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, hypercalciuria, hyperuricemia, hypercalcemia, paresthesia, arrhythmias, decreased glucose tolerance, hyperglycemia, transient increase in the activity of liver enzymes (transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, impaired renal function), impaired renal function, cracks in the feet and palms, seborrheic rashes, alopecia.
If any of these side effects worsen or if other reactions not listed in the list develop, you should consult your doctor.
Overdose
When taking vitamins Oligovit in a dose exceeding the recommended dose, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose cases of the drug Oligovit were not recorded.
It is assumed that after taking high doses of the drug, the development of symptoms of intoxication such as abdominal pain, nausea / vomiting, diarrhea, the presence of blood in the vomit, bleeding from the rectum is possible. This indicates an overdose of iron, which is part of Oligovit, and requires medical attention to take urgent therapeutic measures.
An overdose that develops while taking high doses of a multivitamin multimineral complex lasting more than one month can cause hypervitaminosis of certain vitamins:
- Vitamin A (retinol): symptoms of hypervitaminosis A are irritability, fatigue, digestive disorders (anorexia, vomiting, weight loss, etc.), low-grade fever, enlarged liver, skin changes (yellowness, dryness, increased photosensitivity), itching, dryness hair, alopecia, cracked lips (with bleeding), headache, anemia, edema of the subcutaneous tissue, hypercalcemia, nocturia, pain in bones and joints. The symptoms of chronic toxicity are an increase in intracranial pressure, edema of the optic nerve head, and severe visual impairment. Symptoms of acute toxicity are sedation, numbness, embarrassment, pain and bleeding of the gums, diarrhea, vomiting, flaking of the skin, increased intracranial pressure accompanied by headache, visual impairment, enlarged liver, increased excitability;
- Vitamin D (cholecalciferol, ergocalciferol): Vitamin D hypervitaminosis causes hypercalcemia (including hypercalciuria, ectopic calcifications, liver and cardiovascular disorders) or hyperphosphatemia. Overdose symptoms are fatigue, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, polyuria, nocturia, hyperhidrosis, thirst, headache, drowsiness, dizziness.
If signs of toxicity are found, it is necessary to stop taking vitamins.
