  • additional components: cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, light liquid paraffin, cetomacrogol 1000, soft white paraffin, sodium hydrogen phosphate, disodium edetate, purified water, chlorocresol.

1 suppository contains:

  • active substance: miconazole nitrate - 100 mg;
  • additional component: solid fat.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Miconazole has antifungal effects. It counteracts the production of ergosterol, promotes changes in the lipid composition and permeability of the cell wall. The substance is active against dermatophytes, yeasts and some other fungi, and also demonstrates antimicrobial effect against gram-positive microorganisms.

Quickly relieves itching that often accompanies fungal infections. With intravaginal use, it does not lead to a change in the composition of the microflora and the pH of the vagina.

Pharmacokinetics

When carrying out local applications, only a small number of metabolites are detected in the blood. Miconazole nitrate is rapidly destroyed in the liver, in the form of inactive derivatives, 14–22% of the dose is excreted through the kidneys.

After the introduction of the agent into the vagina, the active suspension is released. With intravaginal use, systemic absorption is limited. 8 hours after the administration of the suppository, 90% of the drug is present in the vagina. Unchanged miconazole is not detected either in plasma or urine.

Indications for use

  • dermatomycosis, excited by fungi sensitive to miconazole (including in the case of secondary infection with gram-positive microorganisms) - for cream;
  • vulvovaginal candidiasis and secondary infections caused by gram-positive bacteria - for suppositories.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Mikozon in both dosage forms is contraindicated for use in the presence of hypersensitivity to imidazoles or any other component of the drug.

Additional contraindications for suppositories are:

  • age up to 12 years;
  • herpes fever;
  • II – III trimesters of pregnancy.

With extreme caution, it is required to use Mycozon for the following diseases / conditions:

  • violation of microcirculation;
  • diabetes;
  • I trimester of pregnancy and lactation (for suppositories).

Instructions for use of Mikozon: method and dosage

Cream

Mikozon cream is intended for external use only.

It is recommended to apply the antifungal agent 2 times a day (morning and evening) to the previously washed and dried skin of the problem area and rub it lightly. If necessary, an occlusive dressing is allowed.

The procedures should be carried out until the symptoms have completely disappeared, as well as over the next few days in order to prevent the occurrence of relapses. During treatment, mycological control should be carried out, based on the results of which the duration of therapy is determined. The course can vary from 2 to 6 weeks.

Suppositories

The tool is used intravaginally, introducing 1 suppository into the vagina before going to bed at night for 6-7 days. The duration of therapy, if necessary, can be reduced by introducing 1 suppository in the evening of the first day, and then, over the next three days, use the drug twice a day - 1 pc. in the morning and in the evening.

Side effects

Cream

With increased sensitivity to miconazole, local allergic reactions may occur: tingling and burning sensation at the site where the cream is applied, skin redness; rarely - rash, edema, urticaria, erythema.

Suppositories

Undesirable effects during the treatment period are rare and, as a rule, they are mild. The most frequent disorders, observed mainly at the beginning of the course, are local irritation, burning sensation, itching. Cases of skin rash and cramping pain in the lower abdomen have also been reported.

Overdose

The use of Mycozon cream in doses exceeding the recommended ones does not lead to the development of any life-threatening conditions / reactions.

In case of accidental oral administration of Mycozon, the following symptoms may occur: gastralgia, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, liver dysfunction; rarely - pollakiuria, hallucinations, drowsiness, allergic skin reactions.

The specific antidote is unknown. In this condition, activated charcoal is taken and symptomatic treatment is carried out.

special instructions

Avoid getting the cream in your eyes.

If during the period of therapy the development of allergic reactions or irritation is noted, the use of Mycozon must be stopped and consult a specialist.

When using suppositories, if necessary, the drug can be removed by washing the vagina with boiled water.

In order to prevent reinfection, hygiene rules are required. If signs of infection are detected in a sexual partner, he should also undergo appropriate treatment.

It is not recommended to use Mycozon cream for more than four weeks.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Mikozon cream can be used during pregnancy and during lactation, since when miconazole is applied externally, nitrate is not absorbed into the systemic circulation.

Vaginal suppositories are contraindicated for use in the II – III trimesters of pregnancy. In the first trimester, intravaginal administration of the drug is possible only if, in the opinion of the attending physician, the expected benefit for the woman significantly exceeds the possible threat to the health of the fetus.

During lactation, suppositories should be used with caution, since it is not known whether miconazole is excreted in breast milk.

Pediatric use

For children under 12 years old, the administration of suppositories is contraindicated.

Drug interactions

It is required to beware of contact of suppositories with latex products (condoms, contraceptive diaphragms) due to possible damage to these products.

Miconazole potentiates the action of phenytoin, oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants.

Analogs

The analogue of Mycozon is Ginesol 7.

The shelf life is 3 years.

Reviews about Mikozone

The few reviews on Mycozone available on medical forums are mostly positive. The drug in the form of a cream, according to reviews, is an effective, fast-acting and relatively inexpensive agent that is successfully used to eliminate fungal lesions of the skin of the body, feet and nails.

However, there are also reviews in which the insufficient effect of the cream is noted or the need for its rather long-term use. The disadvantages of Mycozon also include the appearance of a strong burning sensation when it is applied, which in some patients led to the cancellation of drug therapy.

The price of Mikozon in pharmacies

The price for Mikozon is: 2% cream for external use (15 g in a tube) - about 120–150 rubles. There is no reliable price for the drug in the form of vaginal suppositories, since they are not currently sold in pharmacies.
