Diaflex Rompharm is a drug from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for the treatment of osteoarthritis.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of hard gelatin capsules of yellow color with a faint brown tint, size No. 1; content - yellow powder (packaged in 10 capsules in blisters, which are inserted in 3 in cardboard boxes).

Active ingredient: diacerein - 50 mg in 1 capsule.

Additional components:

  • excipients: magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate (capsule 60);
  • composition of the capsule shell: gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron dye yellow oxide.

Indications for use

Diaflex Rompharm is a drug for the treatment of primary and secondary osteoarthritis.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • pregnancy;
  • lactation (if treatment is necessary, it is recommended to stop feeding);
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or anthraquinone laxative drugs.

Relative:

  • inflammatory bowel disease;
  • intestinal obstruction;
  • severe renal / hepatic impairment.

Method of administration and dosage

Diaflex Rompharm is indicated for oral administration. The capsules should be taken after meals, swallowing whole and washed down with water.

Due to the likelihood of acceleration of transit in the intestine during the first 4 weeks, it is recommended to take 1 capsule 1 time per day, in the evening with food. Then you can increase the dose to the recommended therapeutic dose - 1 capsule 2 times a day (morning and evening).

Treatment can be long-term or course (at least 4 months).

Side effects

  • digestive tract: abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, hepatitis;
  • allergic reactions: bronchospasm, fever, urticaria, anaphylactic shock, angioedema;
  • others: general malaise, urine staining from yellow to brown (depending on pH).

Overdose symptoms: weakness and diarrhea. In this case, symptomatic treatment is performed. With severe diarrhea, the electrolyte composition of the plasma should be monitored and, if necessary, corrected.

special instructions

Treatment of osteoarthritis is long-term. Before the onset of a pronounced therapeutic effect, Diaflex Rompharm can be used in combination with analgesics, including cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors.

During the period of treatment, it is necessary to periodically monitor urine (creatinine and creatine kinase levels), blood and liver function tests (hepatic transaminase levels).

In case of deterioration of the functional state of the kidneys, the dose of the drug should be reduced. In chronic renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml / min), the initial dose is reduced to 1 capsule 1 time per day, and then titrated depending on the clinical efficacy of diacerein and its tolerability.

Urine staining can make it difficult to interpret urinalysis results (for example, to determine the level of glucose), but this phenomenon is not clinically significant.

There are no data on the effect of the drug on the reaction rate and the ability to concentrate.

Drug interactions

During the period of treatment, it is not recommended to take drugs that increase the volume of intestinal contents (for example, drugs with a high fiber content).

While taking Diaflex Rompharm, you should refrain from taking laxatives.

Products containing aluminum hydroxide and / or magnesium hydroxide reduce the bioavailability of diacerein, antacids - its absorption.

With the simultaneous use of antibiotics or chemotherapeutic agents that affect the intestinal microflora, an increase in the incidence of side effects from the gastrointestinal tract is possible.

Analogs

Diaflex Rompharm analogs are: Diartrin, Artrodarin.
