Release form and composition
Hexavit is produced in the form of dragees (50, 100, 150, 500, 800 pieces in polymer or glass jars, 1 jar in a cardboard box).
The composition of 1 tablet contains active substances:
- Retinol palmitate - 5000 IU;
- Riboflavin - 2 mg;
- Thiamine hydrochloride - 2 mg;
- Ascorbic acid - 70 mg;
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride - 2 mg;
- Nicotinamide - 15 mg
Auxiliary components in Hexavit: talc - 0.1 mg; flour - 26.4 mg; food flavor - 0.3 mg; starch syrup - 50 mg; sucrose (sugar) - 828.4 mg; sunflower oil - 0.2 mg; quinoline yellow dye - 0.5 mg; beeswax - 0.3 mg.

Vitamin A (retinol palmitate) is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a significant role in redox processes and is involved in the synthesis of lipids, proteins, mucopolysaccharides. The compound ensures normal ovo- and spermatogenesis, growth, full development and differentiation of embryonic tissues, including bone tissue and epithelial structures, as well as the development of the placenta. Vitamin A is involved in the formation of visual pigments responsible for normal color and twilight vision, regulates bone growth, and increases the integrity of epithelial tissues.
Vitamin B 1 (thiamine hydrochloride) is a coenzyme involved in carbohydrate metabolism and is responsible for the functioning of the nervous system.
Vitamin B 2 (riboflavin) refers to the essential catalyst for visual perception and cellular respiration.
Vitamin B 6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) is a coenzyme and is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and protein metabolism.
Nicotinamide is an integral element of fat and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as tissue respiration processes.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) takes part in the oxidative reactions of a number of substances with biological activity, regulation of certain components of connective tissue, improves blood clotting and capillary permeability, normalizes carbohydrate metabolism, is responsible for tissue regeneration (restoration), activates the synthesis of steroid hormones.
Pharmacokinetics
All components of Hexavit are well absorbed in the intestines and enter the systemic circulation, being distributed throughout all tissues and organs. Their metabolites are excreted in urine and bile.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Hexavit is prescribed for the prevention of hypovitaminosis.
Also, the drug is used for long-term antibiotic treatment, to improve visual acuity with increased visual stress and to increase the body's resistance to colds and infectious diseases.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding (lactation);
- Age up to 3 years;
- Hypersensitivity to any component in Hexavit.
Instructions for the use of Hexavit: method and dosage
Dragee is taken orally.
For the prevention of hypovitaminosis, usually 1 tablet is prescribed per day.
In other cases, Hexavit is taken depending on age, 1 tablet each:
- Children 3-7 years old - 2 times a day;
- Adults and children from 7 years old - 3 times a day.
Side effects
During therapy, allergic reactions may develop.
Overdose
An overdose can be suspected by the following symptoms: skin rash, itching, headache, drowsiness, belching, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain. In this case, it is recommended to perform gastric lavage followed by the intake of enterosorbents. In the future, it is possible to prescribe symptomatic therapy.

Taking the drug can lead to staining of urine in a bright yellow color, which does not pose a threat to health and is explained by the riboflavin included in its composition.
