Release form and composition
The drug is available in the form:
- Oils for oral administration (in dark glass vials of 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 80, 100, 250, 500, and 1000 ml);
- Oils for oral and external use (in bottles of 25, 40, 50 and 100 ml).
The active ingredient of the drug is liquid paraffin (vaseline oil).

Vaseline oil is a laxative that softens stool and has a mild stimulating effect on intestinal motility. When taken orally, it is practically not absorbed in the digestive tract and does not enter the systemic circulation. A pronounced laxative effect is observed 6-8 hours after ingestion.
Indications for use
Vaseline oil is used for constipation.
Also, the drug is used as an external agent in the treatment of children. It can be used as a base for various ointments.
Contraindications
- Inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity;
- Intestinal obstruction;
- Intestinal bleeding;
- Febrile syndrome;

Instructions for the use of Vaseline oil: method and dosage
Vaseline oil for constipation is applied orally 1 time per day, 1-2 tablespoons 2 hours after a meal. The duration of therapy is no more than 5 days.
For newborns, Vaseline oil can be used externally to treat skin folds. Also, the tool is used to treat the tip of the enema before setting it.
Side effects
Long-term use of oil can cause:
- Hypovitaminosis A, E, K;
- Intestinal atony.
Overdose
