Vaginorm-S is an antiseptic preparation for local use in gynecological practice.
Release form and composition
Vaginorm-S is available in the form of vaginal tablets: oval, from white with a light yellow tint to white (6 pcs. In a blister, 1 blister in a cardboard box).
1 vaginal tablet contains:
- active substance: ascorbic acid - 0.25 g;
- auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, polymethylsiloxane, hypromellose.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The mechanism of action of the drug is the process of inhibition of the growth of anaerobic bacteria by ascorbic acid, which causes a decrease in the acidity of the vaginal secretion and the restoration of its microflora (Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus acidophilus).
Maintaining an equilibrium state of the vaginal microflora is achieved by reducing its acidity for several days.
Pharmacokinetics
The use of the drug in a therapeutic dose causes a small amount of the active substance to enter the systemic circulation, which is excreted by the kidneys.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Vaginorm-C is recommended for use for the treatment of chronic or recurrent nonspecific vaginitis and bacterial vaginosis caused by anaerobic flora, which has arisen against the background of impaired vaginal acidity. The drug is also used to normalize the disturbed microflora of the vagina.
Contraindications
- vulvovaginal candidiasis;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Instructions for use of Vaginorm-C: method and dosage
The tablets are used intravaginally, by insertion into the vagina.
The procedure should be carried out in a supine position with the knees slightly bent. For more convenient administration, the tablet can be pre-moistened in water.
Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 1 time per day (in the evening before bedtime). Heading dose - 6 pcs.
If necessary, the course of treatment can be extended or repeated.
Side effects
- rarely: a burning sensation or itching in the vagina, swelling of the vulva, hyperemia, increased mucous discharge;
- extremely rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

When conducting laboratory studies, it should be borne in mind that vitamin C affects the glucose content in the urine, the level of transaminases, bilirubin and lactate dehydrogenase in the blood serum.
The appearance of burning and itching may be due to the presence of a concomitant fungal infection in the vagina. Therefore, the use of the drug should be started only after conducting an appropriate analysis confirming the absence of a fungal infection.

During pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding, the drug is used according to indications.

With simultaneous use with Vaginorm-S:
- estrogens - increase the bioavailability of the drug;
- salicylates - potentiate the excretion of vitamin C from the body;
- anticoagulants - a decrease in their activity is possible.
