Butadion is a drug belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Release form and composition

The drug is available in the form:

  • Ointments for external use 5% (in aluminum tubes of 20 g and in dark glass jars of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 50 g);
  • Tablets 150 mg (in contour packs of 10 and 20 pieces).

The active ingredient of Butadion is phenylbutazone.

Indications for use

Indications for the use of Butadion ointment are:

Contraindications to the use of Butadion ointment are:

  • Concomitant use of other drugs containing phenylbutazone;

  • I and III trimesters of pregnancy;

Method of administration and dosage

When using Butadion ointment:

The drug is used externally. It is recommended 2-3 times at knocks to apply a strip of ointment with a thin layer of 2-3 cm above the focus of inflammation, without rubbing. Duration of treatment is 7-10 days. After 10 days of treatment, you should consult a doctor.

When using Butadion tablets:

The drug is recommended to be taken orally 2-4 times in knocks of 100-150 mg. The duration of treatment is from 2 to 5 weeks.

Avoid getting the drug on open wounds, butadion should be applied only to intact skin surfaces. After application, do not apply an occlusive dressing.

Do not use Butadion in the treatment of deep vein thrombophlebitis of the extremities.
