Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Bendazole is a myotropic antispasmodic, a benzimidazole derivative. It dilates blood vessels and has an antispasmodic effect on all smooth muscles of internal organs and blood vessels. By expanding peripheral vessels and decreasing cardiac output, the drug lowers blood pressure.
Has a short hypotensive effect and very moderate activity. The hypotensive effect with intravenous injections develops within 15-20 minutes, with intramuscular injections - 30-60 minutes. The duration of action varies from 2 to 3 hours.
Pharmacokinetics
Studies of the pharmacokinetic properties of the drug have not been conducted.
Indications for use
- hypertensive crisis;
- spasms of smooth muscles of internal organs, including the intestines and pylorus, gastric ulcer.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- pathologies, against the background of which muscle tone increases or convulsive syndrome develops;
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;
- age under 18;
- individual intolerance to the components in Bendazole.
The drug is used under medical supervision in elderly patients.
Bendazol, instructions for use: method and dosage
Bendazole solution is intended for intramuscular or intravenous administration.
Doses of the solution, depending on the indications, are:
- hypertensive crisis: 3-4 ml (30-40 mg) of the drug is administered intramuscularly or intravenously;
- spasms of smooth muscles: 1-2 ml (10-20 mg) of the drug is injected intramuscularly.
For the treatment of hypertensive crisis, other antihypertensive drugs may also be prescribed concurrently with Bendazole.
Side effects
During the period of therapy, allergic reactions may develop.
The introduction of large doses of the solution can lead to nausea, headache, dizziness, fever, and increased sweating. These phenomena quickly disappear when the dose is reduced or the drug is discontinued.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been registered.
Presumably, an overdose of a drug can lead to a pronounced decrease in blood pressure.
Therapy: a patient with a pronounced decrease in blood pressure should take a lying position with raised legs. Further, if necessary, symptomatic treatment is prescribed.
special instructions
It should be taken into account that Bendazol contains ethanol. A single dose of the drug may contain more than 100 mg of ethyl alcohol.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
During the period of therapy, one should refrain from driving vehicles and conducting potentially hazardous activities.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
A solution of Bendazole during pregnancy / lactation is not prescribed, since there is no data on the safety of its use for the fetus and child. If it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, breastfeeding is stopped during therapy.
Pediatric use
For patients under 18 years of age, the drug is not prescribed.
Use in the elderly
Prescribing the drug to elderly patients requires medical supervision due to a decrease in cardiac output.
Drug interactions
- phentolamine: the hypotensive effect of bendazole is enhanced;
- diuretic and antihypertensive drugs: their hypotensive effect is enhanced;
- beta-blockers: bendazole prevents the resulting increase in total peripheral vascular resistance.
Analogs
Analogues of Bendazol are Dibazol, Dibazol-Darnitsa, Dibazol-Vial, Dibazol solution for injection 1%, Dibazol tablets 0.02 g, Dibazol-UBF, Dibazola solution for injection, etc.

Reviews about Bendazol
Bendazol is included in the Negative List of Medical Technologies (NPMT), created at the initiative of the Formulary Committee (FC) of an independent body at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In the reviews of Bendazole, specialists argue that its use as an antispasmodic in gastroenterology has no evidence base and cannot be considered a more affordable therapeutic alternative. Analysis of EMS (standards of medical care) also shows that the drug is not recommended for use in the treatment of ischemic stroke, hypertensive crisis and other, previously common indications for prescription.
The price of Bendazol in pharmacies
The price of Bendazol is unknown because the drug is not available in pharmacies.
The approximate cost of analogs: Dibazola tablets (10 pcs. In a package) - 25 rubles; Dibazol-UBF (10 tablets in a package, 0.02 g each) - 13 rubles; Dibazol solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration (in a box of 10 ampoules, 5 ml each) - from 31 to 47 rubles.
