Psychiatry

Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that deals with the study, treatment and rehabilitation of mental or mental illness. Mental illness is considered to be a condition other than mental health, but this concept is relative and can change depending on the conditions and personal qualities of the person. The peculiarity of psychiatry is that sometimes even obvious mental disorders occur without organic changes in the body, they cannot always be determined either quantitatively or qualitatively, and the diagnosis is carried out on the basis of testing. The main problem of mental illness is the loss of the patient from normal social life.

Mental illnesses are very common, according to medical statistics, every fifth person is subject to some form of mental disorder, temporary or permanent. People of any age, including children, suffer from mental illness; some diseases appear even in early childhood, for example, autism.

Child psychiatry occupies a special place in psychiatry, since the child's psyche is very labile, and with proper care and adequate treatment, it is possible to return the child to a full life, including social life. The main in the treatment of mental disorders in children is rehabilitation, including psychological and social. Child psychiatry is currently developing towards the maximum adaptation of the child to the society of other children, moving away from the isolation of a sick child, as was the case earlier.

Rehabilitation, especially social, occupies one of the important places in the treatment of mental illness, this is the area where psychiatry is closely related to psychology and pedagogy. Currently, the methods of treating mental illnesses have been largely revised and improved. New groups of drugs have been developed that are more effective and have fewer side effects; physiotherapy is widely used. Comprehensive treatment, using auxiliary methods such as art therapy, occupational therapy, animal therapy, allows you to achieve significant success, and if you do not completely cure the disease, then in any case, achieve positive dynamics and prevent personality decay.
