Diazolin is a synthetic antihistamine drug used in the treatment of various allergic diseases.
pharmachologic effect
Diazolin's active ingredient is Mebhydrolin. H1-histamine receptor blocker. Reduces the development of edema and has antipruritic, anti-allergic and anti-exudative effects.
Unlike antihistamine drugs of the 1st generation, Diazolin does not have a pronounced sedative and hypnotic effect and weakens the effect of histamine on the smooth muscles of the uterus, bronchi and intestines. The maximum effect of the drug is observed after 1-2 hours and can last up to 2 days.
Release form
Diazolin is available in the form of pills and white round-shaped tablets.
1 tablet (tablet) contains mebhydrolin 50 mg or 100 mg, 10 tablets in a blister or 20 in vials.
Diazolin for children with a reduced dosage is not available.
Indications for the use of Diazolin
Diazolin is used to treat various allergic diseases:
- Seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis;
- Hives;
- Allergic conjunctivitis;
- Allergic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eyes;
- Pollinosis;
- Itchy dermatosis (neurodermatitis, eczema).
Diazolin is indicated for the treatment of skin reactions to insect bites and is used in combination therapy for the treatment of bronchial asthma.
Contraindications to the use of Diazolin:
- Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;
- Aggravated inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
- Hypertrophy of the prostate;
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance - mebhydrolin;
- Closed-angle glaucoma;
- Children's age (up to 2 years).
According to the instructions, Diazolin should be used with caution in case of cardiac arrhythmias, epilepsy and pyloric stenosis.
Instructions for use and doses
According to the instructions, Diazolin is prescribed orally and taken after meals.
Adults and children over 10 years old, depending on the disease, are prescribed 50-300 mg per day, the dose can be divided into 2 doses. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 600 mg. In the case of a single use - no more than 300 mg.
Diazolin in children's practice is prescribed at the age of 5 to 10 years 100-200 mg per day, and from 2 to 5 years - 50-150 mg per day.
Side effect
The drug is usually well tolerated. In rare cases, when using Diazolin, there may be an increase in fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness and a slowdown in the speed of reactions, therefore, care must be taken when driving.
Diazolin can also cause:
- Nausea;
- Heartburn;
- Dry mouth;
- Epigastric pain;
- Irritation of the stomach lining;
- Agranulocytosis;
- Violation of urination;
- Granulocytopenia;
- Allergic reactions.
Diazolin is prescribed with caution during pregnancy and lactation. For liver and kidney diseases, dose adjustment is possible.
When using other drugs, it should be borne in mind that Diazolin enhances the effect of drugs that depress the central nervous system.
