According to the instructions, Eutirox is a synthetic analogue of the hormone thyroxine. It compensates for the deficiency of hormones in case of insufficient production by the thyroid gland. When it enters the body, the drug is converted in the liver and kidneys into triiodothyronine, which is involved in metabolism, regulates the growth and differentiation of tissues. Contraindications
Do not use the drug in cases of untreated thyrotoxicosis and adrenal insufficiency, with acute inflammatory lesions of the heart (myocarditis, pancarditis), acute myocardial infarction, drug intolerance. It is used with caution if the patient has concomitant arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and long-term hypothyroidism.
Instructions for the use of Eutirox
Tablets are intended to be taken on an empty stomach (not earlier than 30 minutes before meals) with water. They cannot be chewed. Depending on the indications for Eutirox, the dose is selected individually.
For patients with significant excess body weight, the dose is calculated on the appropriate weight for the given height.
If replacement therapy is required for hypothyroidism, then for patients under the age of 55, provided there are no heart diseases, the recommended dose is 1.6 - 1.8 μg / kg / day (on average, for women 75 - 100 μg / day, for males 100 - 150 mcg / day). If the patient is over 55 years old or has concomitant heart disease, the daily dose is 0.9 μg / kg, starting with a dose of 25 μg / day. The dosage is increased, if necessary, gradually, by 25 μg in 2 months, to the normal values of thyroid-stimulating hormone. Requires constant intake of Eutirox throughout life.
Severe hypothyroidism requires careful administration of Eutirox with small dosages - 12.5 mcg / day, regularly monitoring TSH.
Congenital hypothyroidism in children under 6 months of age requires the appointment of 25 - 50 mcg / day, from 6 to 12 months 50 - 75 mcg / day, from 1 to 5 years 75 - 100 mcg / day, from 6 to 12 years 100 - 150 μg / day, from 12 years 100 - 200 μg / day. For small children, the drug is prescribed for 1 dose (in the morning before meals) for life.
In the complex treatment of thyrotoxicosis, the daily dose of Eutirox is 50 - 100 mcg, with a cancerous lesion of the thyroid gland 50 - 300 mcg. The duration of treatment is determined individually.
