Anestezol is a complex antihemorrhoidal drug. There are four active substances in this preparation: benzocaine (100 mg), bismuth subgallate (40 mg), zinc oxide (20 mg) and menthol (4 mg) - per rectal suppository.
Anestezol has anti-inflammatory, local anesthetic and astringent properties. Reviews of Anestezole confirm that the drug relieves pain in patients with rectal fissures and hemorrhoids, and also significantly reduces the severity of the inflammatory process in these diseases. Anestezol has a positive effect on accelerating tissue regeneration and facilitating defecation.
Indications for the use of Anestezol
According to the instructions, Anestezol is used to treat hemorrhoids and anal fissures.
Instructions for the use of Anestezol
Anestezol is intended for rectal administration (into the rectum). The maximum therapeutic effect can be achieved if the drug is used immediately after a bowel movement or a cleansing enema. Before the introduction of the Anestezol suppository, you must thoroughly wash your hands and the anal area. Doses of the drug and the optimal duration of treatment are determined by the attending physician, however, reviews of Anestezole indicate that for effective treatment, adults need only use 1 suppository once or twice a day. If treatment with this drug occurs for a sufficiently long time, in this case, the blood picture should be monitored due to the possible development of methemoglobinemia.
Side effects
This drug, as a rule, is well tolerated, however, in therapeutic practice and reviews of Anestezole, several cases of an adverse reaction of the body to its use have been recorded:
- a burning sensation in the anus;
- stool disorders;
- allergic reactions in the form of itching, skin rash, urticaria.
Contraindications
Anestezol suppositories are not prescribed with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Since there is no data on the effectiveness and safety of the drug in the younger age group, it should not be used in children under 18 years of age.
According to the instructions, Anestezol should be prescribed with caution to pregnant women, lactating women and those patients whose work is associated with driving or potentially dangerous machinery.
Additional Information
Anestezol suppositories should be stored in a dry place, away from sunlight, while the temperature should be within 8-15 0 C. The shelf life of the drug is three years.
