Ampiox is a combined antibiotic that combines the spectrum of action of two active substances:

  • Ampicillin: is a semi-synthetic penicillin, has a bactericidal effect, exhibits acid resistance. It is active against gram-positive, non-forming penicillinase (Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp.) And gram-negative (Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Shigilella spp., Influenza miroorganizm, Shigilella spp.;
  • Oxacillin: is a penicillinase-resistant semi-synthetic antibiotic from the penicillin group, showing acid resistance. Contraindications

Ampiox capsules are not prescribed for hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, lymphocytic leukemia, infectious mononucleosis. Particular care is required when prescribing the drug to children whose mothers have an increased sensitivity to penicillin.

During pregnancy, it is possible to use Ampiox according to indications. During lactation, if it is necessary to use the drug, it is recommended to refuse breastfeeding.

  • Bactericidal antibiotics (including rifampicin, vancomycin, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides): synergistic action;
  • Oral contraceptives, drugs, in the process of metabolism of which para-aminobenzoic acid is formed, ethinyl estradiol: a decrease in their effectiveness, an increase in the likelihood of breakthrough bleeding;
  • Indirect anticoagulants: increasing their effectiveness, which occurs due to the suppression of intestinal microflora, a decrease in the synthesis of vitamin K and the prothrombin index;
  • Allopurinol: the likelihood of a skin rash increases;
  • Probenecid, diuretics, phenylbutazone, allopurinol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: tubular secretion decreases, the concentration of Ampiox in plasma increases, which leads to an increased risk of toxic effects.
