Aktipol is an antioxidant, immunomodulatory, radioprotective antiviral agent that accelerates corneal regeneration.
Release form and composition
- Solution for injection and instillation into the eye 0.007%: colorless transparent liquid (1 and 2 ml in ampoules, 10 or 50 ampoules, complete with an ampoule knife in a cardboard box);
- Eye drops 0.007%: colorless transparent liquid (5 ml each in polymer / plastic dropper bottles or glass bottles, or in bottles with a dropper cap, in a cardboard box 1 bottle, in a cardboard box 50 bottles).
1 ml of solution and drops contains:
- Active substance: para-aminobenzoic acid - 0.07 mg;
- Additional components: water for injection and sodium chloride.
Indications for use
- Viral keratouveitis, conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis caused by adenovirus, Herpes zoster, Herpes simplex;
- Keratopathy of postoperative, post-traumatic and infectious genesis;
- Burns and eye injuries;
- Dystrophic diseases of the retina and cornea;
- Discomfort associated with eye strain and fatigue, including when working at a computer and wearing contact lenses.
Contraindications
The only strict contraindication to Aktipol is hypersensitivity to its components.
There is no data on the safety of using the drug in children, during pregnancy and lactation, so these categories of patients can be prescribed the drug only if the intended benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Method of administration and dosage
Aktipol in the form of a solution is used for instillations, for parabulbar, retrobulbar, subconjunctival and perivasal injections; in the form of eye drops - for instillations.
Recommended dosage regimen:
- Local application: 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye from 3 to 8 times a day until complete recovery, after which - 2 drops 3 times a day for another 7 days;
- Perivasal administration (for retinal dystrophies): 1 ml, the course of treatment consists of 10-12 injections. Also, with this disease, parabulbar administration of the drug in 0.5 ml is possible;
- Parabulbar, retrobulbar and subconjunctival administration: 0.3-0.5 ml. The course of treatment consists of 3-15 injections, the intervals between injections are determined individually.
As a rule, with superficial forms of herpetic keratitis, injections are made after 1-3 days in combination with instillations of the drug (2 drops 4-8 times a day, depending on the course of the disease).
In case of deep forms of herpetic keratitis, at the beginning of treatment, injections are made once a day, every day, then - 1 time in 2-3 days in combination with instillations of the drug (2 drops 4-8 times a day, depending on the course of the disease).
With both forms of keratitis, after recovery, treatment is continued for 7-10 days, 2 drops are instilled per day.
Side effects
Aktipol is generally well tolerated. In rare cases, conjunctival hyperemia occurs, local allergic reactions are possible.

Accidental ingestion of the drug does not pose a risk of systemic side effects.
Drug interactions
The therapeutic effect of para-aminobenzoic acid is enhanced by modified nucleosides (for example, fludarabine phosphate, acyclovir and ganciclovir) and antibiotics.
Aktipol should not be used concomitantly with Enkad and sulfa drugs (for example, albucid).
Analogs
Analogs of Aktipol are: Poludan, Okoferon, Oftalmoferon.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store out of reach of children, protected from light at temperatures up to 40 ºС. Do not freeze.
Shelf life is 2 years.
After the first opening, eye drops can be stored for 7 days, in polymer dropper bottles - 14 days.
