Plugged ear - what to do?

Suddenly the ear is blocked: what to do?
Suddenly the ear is blocked: what to do?

Every person at least once in his life is faced with such a situation when his ears unexpectedly lay. And at this moment, the question of what to do if the ear is blocked is quite justified. First of all, you need to decide for what reason your ears are blocked. If the ear is blocked while flying in an airplane or descending (ascending) in an elevator, then it will be enough to swallow hard two or three times so that in a few minutes the hearing will be restored. But sometimes the ears are blocked for a reason that does not depend on external factors. Then you should understand the true nature of such a phenomenon.

What is the reason for stuffing ears?

What are the reasons for stuffing your ears? Inflammation in the Eustachian (auditory) tube can be at the root of the ear congestion problem. The background for inflammation of the external auditory canal can be a curvature of the nasal septum, a cold, or polyps. If the ear is blocked, then the cause of the congestion may be a previous otitis media.

Ear plugging can occur when the auditory nerve is dysfunctional. Most often, such a violation occurs as a result of ischemic brain damage, head trauma, and the development of arterial hypertension.

When flying in an airplane or descending (ascending) in an elevator, many people often have ear problems due to a sharp change in atmospheric pressure. In the space around a person, the pressure drops slightly faster than in the middle ear. That is why sound reproduction in human hearing organs will be slightly impaired.

If sulfur plugs block the ear canal, then sound reproduction is also distorted.

Plugs ears and when water gets into them while diving, swimming. In addition, ear laying may be due to the anatomical features of the structure of the organ of hearing of a particular person.

What to do if your ear is blocked?

In the event that your ears are blocked with a cold, you should immediately consult a doctor in the first two to three days after the onset of symptoms of congestion. If the ear is blocked with a runny nose, then the sinuses should be cleaned with saline. To do this, you need to draw water into a syringe, and then, slightly tilting your head to one side and pinching one nostril, inject a saline solution into the other nostril.

If, after bathing, the ear is blocked due to the fact that water has entered the ear canal, then you should tilt your head to the side where the blocked ear is located and try to jump in place. In order for the remaining water to go into the nasopharynx, it is necessary to make several swallowing movements.

If you experience discomfort and heaviness in your ears when flying on an airplane, you need to open your mouth a little and massage the area between the ear cartilage and the temple. And if the ear is blocked for this very reason, then as a result of the redistribution of pressure, the load on the ears will decrease.

Treatment for blocked ears

Diet can help with ear popping. Eating foods that are too spicy, smoked, or salty will stimulate the production of earwax. Active chewing of carrots, radishes, apples and other hard vegetables and fruits helps to cleanse the organ of hearing from sulfur plugs. If a drug in the form of a candle is installed in the ear, then the sulfuric plug will gradually soften and completely dissolve after a certain time. If the ear is blocked, then you can drop one or two drops of hydrogen peroxide, hold for a few minutes and rinse. Hydrogen peroxide will perfectly soften the sulfur plug.

There are also folk remedies for ear congestion. You can take one tablespoon of hawthorn and one teaspoon of periwinkle, pour 500 ml of boiling water and place in a water bath for thirty minutes, and then infuse the resulting broth for about twenty minutes. Then strain the broth through a sieve and drink a tablespoon half an hour before meals.
