Gastroenterostomy
Gastroenterostomy (gastroenterostomia; Greek gaster, gastros - stomach + Greek entera - intestines, intestines + stoma - hole; synonym: gastrojejunostomy) is a surgical operation consisting in the imposition of an anastomosis between the small (mainly jejunum) intestine and the stomach.
Types of gastroenterostomy:
- According to Brown (Brown gastroenterostomy) - in which the posterior serous-serous and serous-muscular sutures are applied before opening the stomach and intestines;
- According to Belfleur (Bellefleur gastroenterostomy) - in which a side-to-side anastomosis is applied anterior to the transverse colon, connecting the jejunum and the anterior wall of the stomach;
- Vertical (verticalis) - gastroenterostomy "side to side", in which the intestinal loop is placed in the direction from the lesser curvature of the stomach (upper concave edge) to the large (lower convex edge);
- According to Gakker (Gakker gastroenterostomy) - is the imposition of a posterior horizontal gastroenteroanastomosis, accompanied by a long loop of the jejunum behind the transverse colon;
- According to Gacker-Brown (Gacker-Brown gastroenterostomy) - one of the types of gastroenterostomy according to Gacker, in which at the same time an interintestinal anastomosis is applied between the adductor and outlet loops of the small intestine according to Brown;
- According to Gacker-Petersen (Gacker-Petersen gastroenterostomy) - posterior horizontal gastroenterostomy, in which a short loop of the jejunum is passed behind the transverse colon;
- Horizontal (horizontalis) - gastroenterostomy "side to side" with the placement of the intestinal loop in the direction from the cardia to the pylorus;
- Back (posterior) - consists in the imposition of an anastomosis with the jejunum on the back wall of the stomach through the opening in its mesentery behind the transverse colon;
- Anterior (anterior) - in which the anastomosis with the jejunum is imposed anterior to the transverse colon on the anterior wall of the stomach.
