Bandage
Bandage (German Binde - bandage, bandage) is a general name for tubular or tape-shaped medical devices used to apply and fix dressings; bandages also include products of a similar shape used for the treatment and prevention of certain surgical diseases.
Allocate a bandage:
- Cotton wool - a strip of cotton wool rolled into a roll; it is used, as a rule, under a fixing plaster cast as a liner;
- Gypsum - gauze, sprinkled with burnt powdery gypsum; used for the application of plaster, quickly hardening, fixing dressings; methylcellulose (non-crumbling plaster bandage) can be used to preserve the powder on the fabric;
- Two-headed - gauze, rolled to the middle at both ends; used in the imposition of some complex dressings;
- Gauze - the most commonly used, which is a gauze tape;
- Starch - soaked with starch paste and dried gauze bandage; used for the application of fixing slowly hardening dressings;
- Rubber (synonym: Esmarch bandage) - made of elastic thin rubber; used to stop bleeding, exsanguinate limbs, or to maintain congestive hyperemia;
- Mesh - a tubular knitted bandage made from elastomeric threads of rare weave and cotton yarn; used when it is necessary to quickly fasten the dressings;
- Elastic - with the ability to stretch, knitted from fabrics using elastomeric materials and cotton threads; used in most cases for bandaging the legs with varicose veins of the lower leg, with sprains of the ligamentous apparatus, and the like.
