Furacilin Avexima is an antimicrobial drug for external and local use of antibacterial and antiprotozoal action, a derivative of nitrofuran.
Release form and composition
Dosage form Furacilin Avexim - effervescent tablets for preparation of a solution for local and external use: flat-cylindrical, chamfer on both sides, color from light yellow to yellow, inclusions are allowed (2 pcs. In contoured non-cell packs / strips, in a cardboard box 5 packs / strips; 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 pcs. in plastic tubes, sealed with a plastic lid with a desiccant and first opening control, or in polymer cans, in a cardboard box 1 tube / can).
Composition for 1 tablet:
- active substance: nitrofural (furacilin) - 20 mg;
- auxiliary components: sodium bicarbonate - 390 mg; tartaric acid - 300 mg; sodium chloride - 100 mg; sodium carbonate - 330 mg; macrogol 4000 - 60 mg.

Furacilin Avexima is an antimicrobial drug, as an active ingredient it includes nitrofural, a nitrofuran derivative.
Bacterial flavoproteins, by reducing the 5-nitro group, form highly reactive amino derivatives that are capable of activating conformational transformations of proteins, including ribosomal ones, as well as other macromolecules, which leads to the death of bacteria.
Nitrofuran is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microflora, including bacteria of the genus Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens.
In pathogenic microflora, the development of resistance to furacilin occurs slowly, it does not reach a high degree.

With local and external use of Furacilin Avexim, its absorption is insignificant.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Furacilin Avexima is recommended for use in the complex treatment of the following diseases / conditions:
- topically: stomatitis, tonsillitis (acute tonsillitis), gingivitis, conjunctivitis, blepharitis;
- outwardly: bedsores, purulent wounds, burns of II – III degree, shallow skin lesions (scratches, abrasions, cuts, cracks).
Contraindications
- allergodermatosis;
- bleeding;
- severe renal dysfunction;
- increased individual sensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives, nitrofural, and other components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Furacilin Avexim: method and dosage
Furacilin Avexima is intended for local and external use in the form of a freshly prepared aqueous solution of 0.02%, for the preparation of which 20 mg (1 tablet) of furacilin is dissolved in 100 ml (½ glass) of warm boiled water or distilled water at room temperature immediately before use.
Application of 0.02% solution according to indications:
- acute tonsillitis (tonsillitis), stomatitis, gingivitis: rinsing the throat and mouth with a warm solution 2-3 times a day, 100 ml;
- blepharitis, conjunctivitis: instillation of the solution into the conjunctival sac;
- bedsores, purulent wounds, II – III degree burns, shallow skin lesions: externally, irrigate the damaged areas with a solution, apply wet bandages.
The duration of therapy depends on the nature and location of the lesions.
