Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Furazidin - the active component of Furagin-LekT - is a nitrofuran derivative, an antifungal agent. Effective for diseases caused by gram-positive cocci (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp.) Or gram-negative bacilli (Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., E. coli).

Acinetobacter spp., Enterococcus spp., Plasmodium, aeruginosa, as well as most Proteus spp. Strains are resistant to furazidine. and Serratia spp.

The mechanism of action of the drug is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of nucleic acids. Depending on the concentration, it exhibits bactericidal or bacteriostatic activity. With regard to a large number of bacteria, the bacteriostatic concentration of furazidine is 10–20 μg / ml. The bactericidal concentration is approximately 2 times higher.

Furagin-LekT suppresses the activity of the respiratory chain and the tricarboxylic acid cycle (Krebs cycle) in microorganisms, and also inhibits other biochemical processes, as a result of which the membrane or cytoplasmic membrane of the bacterium is destroyed.

Pharmacokinetics

After taking the drug inside, furazidine is absorbed in the distal segment of the intestine by passive diffusion.

In urine, it creates concentrations that are many times higher than bacteriostatic, the maximum is 5.7 μg / ml. Approximately 6% of the dose is excreted by the kidneys.

Indications for use

  • infectious diseases of the urinary tract and kidneys: cystitis, acute and chronic pyelonephritis, urethritis, infections after surgery;
  • infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.

Furagin-LekT, instructions for use: method and dosage

special instructions

To avoid the development of side effects, Furagin-LekT tablets are recommended to be taken with plenty of water. If necessary, you can reduce the dose of the drug and conduct desensitizing therapy. The most common adverse reactions are observed in patients with reduced renal excretory function.

With prolonged treatment, periodic monitoring of the level of leukocytes in the blood, kidney and liver function is necessary.

During therapy, you should refrain from drinking alcohol.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

In some patients, during therapy, dizziness is noted, which should be taken into account by vehicle drivers and persons employed in potentially hazardous industries that require speed of reactions and increased attention.

Pediatric use

The drug is not used in pediatrics to treat children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

In severe renal failure, the drug is contraindicated.

For violations of liver function

With caution, Furagin-LekT is used to treat patients with liver diseases.

Drug interactions

  • nalidixic acid: the bacteriostatic effect of furazidine decreases;
  • antacids, which include magnesium trisilicate: absorption of furazidine decreases;
  • uricosuric drugs (probenecid, sulfinpyrazone): the excretion of furazidine in the urine and its therapeutic efficacy decrease, as a result of which the risk of accumulation of the drug in the body and an increase in its toxicity increases.

Patients should inform the doctor about all medications they are taking.
