Eucabal is a predominantly herbal preparation with expectorant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Pharmacological action of Evkabal
The therapeutic effect of Eucabal is due to the action of its constituent components of plant origin. So, thymol and carvacrol (active substances of thyme extract) provide mucolytic, expectorant, antispasmodic and antimicrobial effects.
Plantain extract, thanks to its glycosides and flavonoids, has anti-inflammatory and secretolytic effects.
Numerous reviews of Eucabal note its effectiveness in reducing irritation of the upper respiratory tract. In addition, the drug promotes the discharge of phlegm, which makes it possible to use it for a convulsive cough.
Release form
The drug Eucabal is available in the form of a syrup.
The syrup is a clear liquid with a dark brown tint, with a sweetish taste and a pronounced odor. In pharmacy chains, the syrup is sold packaged in 100 ml dark glass bottles. The vials are sealed in cardboard boxes.
Indications for the use of Eucabal
The instruction for Eucabal prescribes the use of the drug as an element of complex therapy for a number of respiratory diseases. In particular, this applies to diseases that are accompanied by a cough (including spastic cough) and difficult to separate sputum: tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis.
Contraindications
Eucabal is not recommended for use in some cases, the list of which is presented below:
- with liver diseases;
- during pregnancy and lactation;
- with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug;
- with alcohol dependence (because it contains ethanol);
- with epilepsy;
- with brain injuries.
It is necessary to use the drug with caution in diabetes mellitus, during a diet with limited carbohydrate intake, in childhood (due to the content of ethanol).
Instructions for the use of Eucabal
According to the instructions, Eucabal should be taken undiluted, before meals. The recommended doses vary depending on the age of the patients:
- children from six months to 1 year old need to take Eucabal once a day, one teaspoon;
- young children are recommended to take one tsp twice a day;
- children of school age should increase the amount of medication taken to 1 tablespoon, leave the same frequency - twice a day;
- adult patients can take one or two tablespoons of Eucabal 3 to 5 times a day.
The duration of taking the medicine is determined exclusively by the doctor, focusing on the severity of the disease and the individual condition of the patient. As a rule, within 2 weeks of taking Eucabal, it is possible to get rid of the symptoms of mild forms of the disease. However, even after the disappearance of all symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to take the drug for another 2 or 3 days.
