Chondroxide Forte is a tissue regeneration stimulator, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Form of release and composition
Cream for external use: has a color from light yellow with a greenish tinge to yellow with a greenish tinge and the smell of dimethyl sulfoxide (10, 20, 25, 30, 50 or 100 g in a tube, in a cardboard box 1 tube).
Composition of 1 g of cream:
- active substances: chondroitin sodium sulfate - 0.05 g, meloxicam - 0.01 g;
- auxiliary components: dimethyl sulfoxide, propylene glycol, macrogol cetostearate, cetostearyl alcohol (cetyl alcohol - not more than 60%, stearyl alcohol - not less than 40%), liquid paraffin, petroleum jelly, imidourea, sodium disulfite, water.

The drug has a complex effect:
- slows down the progression of osteochondrosis and osteoarthritis;
- helps to increase joint mobility (in the area of application of the cream);
- has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect;
- reduces joint swelling.
The optimal combination of substances in the composition of the drug provides a mutual enhancement of its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Chondroitin sulfate is a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide, a natural component of cartilage tissue. Strengthens phosphorus-calcium metabolism in cartilage tissue, inhibits destruction processes, inhibiting enzymes that cause damage to cartilage, stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, helps to restore the cartilaginous surfaces of joints, accelerates the processes of their repair, prevents the collapse of connective tissue. This leads to a decrease in the intensity of pain and an increase in the mobility of the affected joints.
Meloxicam is an NSAID that has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2, disrupts the metabolism of arachidonic acid, and reduces the number of inflammatory and pain mediators. Meloxicam is a chondroneutral drug that does not have a detrimental effect on cartilage tissue, and also does not affect proteoglycan synthesis by chondrocytes of the articular cartilage.
Indications for use
Chondroxide Forte cream is indicated for use in the complex therapy of degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis of the spine), as well as other joint diseases accompanied by pain.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- violation of the integrity of the skin at the site of application;
- pregnancy and lactation;
- age up to 12 years;
- hypersensitivity to any component of the drug or other NSAIDs.
Relative:
- dysfunction of the kidneys and liver;
- pathology of the gastrointestinal tract (pronounced, for example, peptic ulcer in the acute phase);
- pathology of the circulatory system (pronounced);
- elderly age.
Instructions for the use of Chondroxide Forte: method and dosage
Chondroxide Forte cream is indicated for external use. Two to three times a day, it is recommended to rub in a 1–5 cm long strip of cream with light movements. The amount of the drug depends on the size of the painful area. After applying the cream, wash your hands thoroughly.
The duration of the course of application of Chondroxide Forte depends on the effect and indications. After 2 weeks of therapy, a consultation with the attending physician is recommended.
Side effects
When using the drug, allergic reactions are possible (skin redness, itching, rash). If side effects appear, it is recommended to interrupt therapy and consult a doctor.
Overdose
An overdose of Chondroxide Forte is almost impossible due to the extremely low systemic absorption of the drug when applied externally.
