Halixol is a drug belonging to the group of mucolytic and expectorant drugs.

Pharmacological action of Halixol

The main active ingredient of the drug is ambroxol, a metabolite of bromhexine in active form, which belongs to the benzylamine group of mucolytic agents.

Halixol promotes sputum liquefaction due to its ability to enhance the production and increase the activity of hydrolytic enzymes that break down the bonds between the phlegm elements (mucopolysaccharides).
