Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of film-coated tablets: pink-violet, round, biconvex (25 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 1 blister; 150 pcs. In polymer cans, in a cardboard box 1 can and instructions for use of Zincteral -Teva).

1 tablet contains:

active substance: zinc sulfate heptahydrate (in terms of zinc sulfate monohydrate) - 124 mg, which is equivalent to 45 mg of zinc-ion;
auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, potato starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, talc;
film shell: macrogol (polyoxyethylene glycol), hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), azorubin varnish (E122), titanium dioxide.

Zincteral-Teva is a preparation of zinc, one of the most important trace elements in the human body. Zinc is part of about 200 enzymes, it is actively involved in protein synthesis, carbohydrate metabolism and other metabolic processes. Promotes the activation of erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase and superoxide dismutase, cytosol superoxide dismutase, glutamate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase hydrolase, aminopeptidases, neutral proteases.

The drug stimulates the synthesis of insulin, potentiates the synthesis of collagen and protein in the regenerating tissue, has an astringent and drying effect.

Pharmacokinetics

Concomitant food intake can reduce zinc absorption.

Indications for use

prevention and treatment of zinc deficiency in the body, the cause of which is an inadequate and unbalanced diet, malabsorption or conditions that disrupt the absorption of zinc and increase its loss;
acrodermatitis enteropathic (acrodermatitis enteropathica);
purulent acne (acne pustulosa);
phlegmonous acne (acne phlegmonosa);
prevention of zinc deficiency with prolonged use of corticosteroids (especially at the time of their withdrawal);
difficult healing wounds - as an auxiliary therapy.

Contraindications

age up to 4 years;
hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Zincteral-Teva, instructions for use: method and dosage

Zincteral-Teva tablets are taken orally, swallowing whole (without violating the integrity of the film membrane), 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

If symptoms of irritation of the gastrointestinal tract occur while taking the tablets, then you can switch to using the drug before or during a meal. In this case, the effect of the drug may be weakened.

The dose and duration of treatment is determined by the doctor.

The recommended dosage of Zincteral-Teva:

zinc deficiency: adults - 1 pc. 1-2 times a day, children over 4 years old - 1 pc. 1 per day;
enteropathic acrodermatitis: adults - 1 pc. 3 times a day. After achieving clinical improvement, the dose should be gradually reduced: first, to 1 pc. 2 times a day, then go to the reception for 1 pc. 1 per day. Children over 4 years old - 1 pc. 1 per day. Treatment continues until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear;
purulent and phlegmonous acne: adults - 1 pc. 1-2 times a day, children over 4 years old - 1 pc. 1 per day.

Side effects

from the nervous system: headache;
from the immune system: allergic reactions;
from the gastrointestinal tract (more often when taking high doses of Zincteral-Teva): heartburn, metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, diarrhea;
from the blood system: with prolonged use - copper deficiency; hematological disorders associated with copper deficiency, including neutropenia (a characteristic symptom - the formation of ulcers in the mouth and throat), leukopenia (accompanied by chills, fever, sore throat), sideroblastic anemia (accompanied by symptoms such as weakness and fatigue).

Overdose

Symptoms: burning pain in the mouth and throat, belching, vomiting, watery or bloody diarrhea, low blood pressure, jaundice, pulmonary edema. In addition, with an overdose of zinc, hematuria, anuria, hemolysis, convulsions and / or collapse may occur.

Treatment: you must immediately drink a large amount of water or milk. Severe cases may require urgent medical attention. Shown intramuscular or intravenous administration of calcium disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Edetic acid). The drug is used in a daily dose of 50–75 mg per 1 kg of the patient's body weight; it is divided into 3–6 doses per day. The course of treatment should not exceed 5 days.

If the next dose is missed, the use of the drug is continued with the next usual dose, without doubling it to replenish the missed dose.

It should be borne in mind that against the background of long-term use of zinc preparations, the risk of copper deficiency increases.

During treatment, it is recommended to avoid drinking alcoholic beverages.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

The use of Zincteral-Teva in therapeutic doses does not affect the patient's ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms.

Pediatric use

The use of Zincteral-Teva in children under the age of 4 is contraindicated.

Recommended dosage for children over 4 years old: 1 pc. 1 per day.

Drug interactions

tetracyclines, copper preparations: the absorption of these agents decreases, therefore, zinc salts should be taken only 2 hours after taking them;
thiazide diuretics: help to increase the excretion of zinc through the kidneys;
folic acid: a possible slight impairment of zinc absorption should be considered;
high doses of iron preparations, penicillamine: the combination with each of these agents causes a significant decrease in zinc absorption, therefore it is recommended to observe an interval between their intake of at least 2 hours;
complex preparations containing zinc (including multivitamin preparations with minerals): the risk of high concentration of zinc in the blood plasma increases.

In addition, it should be borne in mind that phosphate-rich diets, vegetables, and grain baked goods limit zinc absorption. These products are recommended to be consumed at least 2 hours after taking Zincteral-Teva.
