Cycloferon is an immunomodulatory and antiviral drug. Interferon synthesis inductor.

Composition and release form of Cycloferon

The drug is available in two dosage forms:

• Biconvex tablets, yellow enteric coated, containing 150 mg meglumine acridone acetate each. Additional substances: calcium stearate, polysorbate 80, povidone, propylene glycol, methacrylic acid copolymer, povidone. In blister strip packs of 10 tablets.
• Clear yellow solution for intramuscular or intravenous administration. 1 ml of solution contains 125 mg meglumine acridone acetate. Auxiliary components: water for injection. In ampoules of 2 ml. 5 ampoules per pack.

Analogs of Cycloferon are the following drugs: Amiksin, Anaferon for children, Galavit, Imunin, Inflamafertin, Maksimun, Otsilokotsinum, Protfenolosid, Timogen.

According to the instructions, Cycloferon is an immunomodulator. The active substance of the drug is a low molecular weight inducer of interferon, which determines its wide spectrum of action. The use of Cycloferon has an immunomodulatory, antiviral, anti-inflammatory effect.

According to reviews, Cycloferon, when administered orally, retains interferonogenic activity for three days.

The drug and analogues of Cycloferon are effective against influenza, tick-borne encephalitis viruses, herpes, hepatitis, immunodeficiency virus, papilloma, cytomegalovirus and others. Indications for use

According to the instructions, Cycloferon in tablet form is indicated for children over four years of age and adults as part of complex therapy in the following cases:

• acute respiratory diseases, flu;
• chronic viral hepatitis C and B;
• herpes infection;
• HIV infection (stages 2A-2B);
• neuroinfection;
• acute intestinal infections;
• secondary immunodeficiencies caused by chronic fungal and bacterial infections.

The use of Cycloferon solution, in addition to the above diseases, is also indicated for the treatment of:

• chlamydial infections;
• cytomegalovirus infection, viral hepatitis A, B, C, D;
• degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the joints;
• systemic and rheumatic connective tissue diseases.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Cycloferon is contraindicated:

• during pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• under the age of four;
• with hypersensitivity;
• with cirrhosis of the liver in the stage of decompensation.

Dosing and Administration of Cycloferon

According to the instructions, Cycloferon in tablet form is taken orally half an hour before meals, once a day. The dosage depends on the indications for Cycloferon.

In case of herpes infection for adults, Cycloferon is prescribed four tablets at a time. The course of treatment is 40 tablets. The most effective therapy is at the initial stage of the disease.

In the treatment of influenza, intestinal infections, the course is 20 tablets (four tablets per dose).

In the treatment of neuroinfections, the HIV course is 140 tablets (four tablets per dose).

According to the indications, Cycloferon is prescribed to children according to the following scheme:

• From four to six years - 1 tablet per day;
• From seven to eleven years old - 2 tablets per day;
• From twelve years old - three tablets per dose once a day.

A repeated course of Cycloferon should be carried out after a three-week break.

Intramuscular and intravenous administration of the drug is carried out every other day according to the basic scheme. The duration of therapy depends on the indications for Cycloferon.

With cytomegalovirus, herpes, chlamydial infections, 10 injections of 250 mg are given.

With neuroinfections, 12 injections of 250-500 mg are prescribed as part of a combination therapy.

In acute and chronic viral hepatitis, HIV infection, 10 injections of 500 mg are given.

For rheumatic and systemic diseases of the connective tissue, Cycloferon, according to reviews, is effective in a dosage of 250 mg for 5 injections. It is necessary to carry out four such courses of treatment with a break of two weeks between courses.

With degenerative-dystrophic diseases, it is necessary to conduct two courses (5 injections of 250 mg each).

Pediatric dosage of Cycloferon solution is 6-10 mg per kg of body weight.
