Prostanorm is a herbal preparation used in the treatment of chronic prostatitis.
Release form and composition
Dosage forms of Prostanorm:
- Film-coated tablets: biconvex, round, pinkish-red, light blotches are possible (10 pcs. In blisters, 1-3 packs in a cardboard box; 30 pcs. In glass or polymer jars, 1 can in a cardboard box pack);
- Liquid extract for oral administration: brown with a reddish tinge, has an aromatic odor, during storage, the appearance of a precipitate is permissible (50 or 100 ml in dropper bottles or glass bottles, 1 dropper bottle or bottle in a cardboard box);
- Vegetable raw materials (in the form of dry extract): a mixture of 4 types of vegetable raw materials of gray-green color with white, brown and orange-yellow blotches (1, 2 or 5 kg in polymer cans).
Composition of 1 tablet:
- Active ingredient: dry extract of prostanorm (obtained from a mixture of medicinal plants: (1: 1: 1: 1), contains the sum of flavonoids (in terms of rutin) - 5%) - 200 mg;
- Auxiliary components: sucrose - 1.82 mg, potato starch - 90.42 mg, lactose - 103.16 mg, talc - 1.82 mg, gelatin - 0.96 mg, stearic acid - 1.82 mg;
- Shell (by extension): colloidal silicon dioxide - 3.70 mg, sucrose - 224.98 mg, low molecular weight povidone - 3.56 mg, titanium dioxide - 4.75 mg, magnesium carbonate and hydroxide - 44.26 mg, talc - 3.04 mg, dye Azorubin - 0.06 mg, dye Tropeolin "0" - 0.02 mg;
- Gloss mastic: beeswax - 0.27 mg, sunflower oil - 0.27 mg, talc - 0.09 mg.
Composition of 1 ml of extract:

Pharmacological properties
Prostanorm is a complex phytopreparation intended for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the prostate gland of specific and non-specific etiology.
Licorice root normalizes prostate function, reduces the severity of allergic reactions, has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect and exhibits antioxidant activity, and also reduces the concentration of cholesterol.
The herb of the canadian goldenrod is a means of preventing the development of prostate adenoma, effectively copes with urinary incontinence, eliminates the negative symptoms of cystitis and helps dissolve stones in the bladder and renal pelvis system.
Purple echinacea enhances potency, activates the synthesis of male sex hormones, increases its own immunity, antimicrobial and antiviral protection, which is provided by other plant components of Prostanorm.
St. John's wort relieves anxiety, relieves symptoms of depression and is characterized by antimicrobial effects.
Prostanorm has a pronounced prostatotropic effect, affecting the work of only the prostate gland. This effect is due to isoflavonoids and triterpene glycosides, which are capable of exhibiting a pronounced affinity for the sex glands, as well as accelerating the synthesis of male sex hormones and having a diuretic effect.
Prostatotropy is associated with such specific properties of Prostanorm as anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, androgenic activity, increased blood flow in the prostate at the capillary level. The active components of the drug have an antibacterial effect, inhibiting the activity of staphylococci and streptococci. Taking Prostanorm has a beneficial effect on metabolic processes in the prostate, preventing the development of inflammatory diseases.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
The drug improves microcirculation in the tissues of the prostate gland, ejaculate indicators (including sperm motility) in pathozoospermia and prostate secretion in chronic prostatitis, and also improves urination.
The combined composition of Prostanorm does not allow a thorough study of the pharmacokinetics of its components.
Indications for use
- Chronic prostatitis;
- Pathozoospermia (infertility) associated with chronic prostatitis (simultaneously with other drugs);
- Urinary disorders (for normalization and as an anti-inflammatory agent).
Contraindications
- Glomerulonephritis;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
According to the instructions, Prostanorm should be used with caution in diseases for which the use of immunostimulating agents is not recommended (the composition includes echinacea extract).
The safety profile of the drug in patients under 18 years of age has not been studied.
Instructions for use of Prostanorm: method and dosage
Prostanorm is taken orally, observing the intervals with meals (half an hour before meals or 40 minutes after meals).
The recommended dosing regimen (single dose with a frequency of taking 3 times a day):
- Tablets: 1-2 tablets, the duration of the therapeutic course is 6-7 weeks;
- Oral extract: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon diluted in 50 ml of water), the duration of the therapeutic course is 4-6 weeks.
After consultation with a specialist, repeated courses of treatment are possible.

Overdose
Taking liquid extract in large doses can provoke the development of symptoms of alcohol intoxication. For other dosage forms, overdose cases have not been registered.
