Stopangin-Teva is an antiseptic.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - spray for topical application 0.2%: transparent colorless or almost colorless liquid with a specific odor (30 ml each in polyethylene or polyethylene terephthalate bottles, equipped with a mechanical sprayer and a lid protecting the sprayer; in a cardboard box 1 bottle complete with an applicator in a plastic bag or without it and instructions for use of Stopangin-Teva).

The composition of the spray in 1 bottle:

  • active substance: hexetidine - 0.057 g;
  • auxiliary components: methyl salicylate, eucalyptus essential oil, aniseed essential oil, peppermint essential oil, orange blossom essential oil, levomenthol, glycerol 85%, ethanol 96%, sodium saccharinate monohydrate.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Stopangin-Teva is a drug that has an antiseptic effect.

The antimicrobial property of the drug is due to its ability to suppress the oxidative reactions of bacterial metabolism.

Stopangin-Teva is characterized by a wide spectrum of antibacterial and antifungal action, in particular against fungi of the genus Candida, gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

No development of drug resistance was noted.

Pharmacokinetics

After application to the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, larynx and pharynx, hexetidine adheres well, is practically not absorbed.

After a single use of the drug, traces of it are found on the mucous membrane of the gums for 65 hours. Active concentrations of the substance remain up to 10-14 hours in dental plaque.

Indications for use

Stopangin-Teva is prescribed as a symptomatic agent in the treatment of the following diseases:

  • inflammatory and infectious diseases of the oral cavity and larynx: glossitis, stomatitis, periodontal disease, gingivitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, tonsillitis (including tonsillitis of the lateral ridges and angina of Plaut-Vincent);
  • fungal diseases of the oral cavity and larynx.

Also, the tool is used in the following cases:

  • oral hygiene, including for eliminating unpleasant odor;
  • prevention of infectious complications in trauma, before and after surgical interventions on the oral cavity and larynx, including prevention of infection of the alveoli after tooth extraction.

Contraindications

  • erosive-desquamous lesions of the oral mucosa;
  • children under 8 years old;
  • individual intolerance to any component of the drug.

Stopangin-Teva should be used with caution in patients who have hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid.

Stopangin-Teva, instructions for use: method and dosage

Stopangin-Teva spray is used topically, after meals or in the intervals between meals.

If the doctor has not prescribed another dosage regimen, the recommended frequency of applications is 2 times a day, the duration of therapy is 5–7 days.

Before each use, rinse the applicator with hot water and always check its integrity. If the applicator is damaged, do not use it.

Spray use rules:

  1. Remove the applicator from the plastic bag (if packed) using scissors or a similar tool.
  2. Check the integrity of the applicator.
  3. Remove the protective cap from the mechanical spray gun.
  4. Place the applicator on the bottle.
  5. Press the sprayer 2-3 times until the solution appears.
  6. Holding the bottle vertically, place the applicator tube into the mouth 2–3 cm deep, hold your breath and press the applicator 2 times - the first time you press, the drug should be sprayed to the right side, the second - to the left.

Side effects

Spray Stopangin-Teva is generally well tolerated. In very rare cases (<1/10 000), the following adverse reactions are noted:

  • from the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions (including urticaria), angioedema;
  • from the respiratory system, chest and mediastinal organs: cough, shortness of breath due to hypersensitivity to the drug;
  • from the gastrointestinal tract: dysphagia, dry mouth, enlarged salivary glands, nausea, vomiting;
  • from the nervous system: dysgeusia, ageusia;
  • others: reactions at the site of application of the spray, including a burning sensation, irritation of the mucous membrane of the mouth and pharynx, paresthesia of the oral cavity, blistering, inflammation, ulceration, discoloration of the tongue / teeth.

Overdose

Overdose cases have not been reported to date.
