Release form and composition
Dosage form of the drug - tablets: round, convex on both sides, color from light brown to brown, inclusions are allowed (30 and 60 pcs. In polystyrene cases; 10 pcs. 1 tablet contains:
- active substance: milk thistle fruit extract - 100 mg (including at least 65% of the sum of flavolignans in terms of silybin and absolutely dry matter);

Pharmacodynamics
Biologically active substances in the composition of Silymar are flavolignans obtained from the fruits of milk thistle, which have antioxidant and hepatoprotective properties.
The therapeutic effect of the drug is due to its effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes. Silymar has a stabilizing effect on the membrane of hepatocytes, activates the synthesis of enzymes and proteins in hepatocytes, inhibits the penetration of toxins into liver cells, inhibits dystrophic and potentiates regenerative processes in the liver.
Indications for use
Treatment:
- toxic liver damage;
- cirrhosis of the liver (as part of complex therapy);
- chronic hepatitis;
- conditions after hepatitis.
Prevention: liver damage in chronic intoxication (including occupational), alcohol abuse, prolonged use of drugs.
Contraindications
Silimar is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components.
It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to children under 12 years of age, pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Silimar, instructions for use: method and dosage
Silimar tablets should be taken orally 30 minutes before meals.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age are prescribed 1-2 tablets 3 times a day.
The duration of therapy is 25-30 days.
In chronic diseases, it is advisable to conduct repeated courses at intervals of 1-3 months.
