Release form and composition
Dosage forms:
- tablets: flat-cylindrical, almost white or white (10 pcs. in a blister strip, in a cardboard box 1 or 3 packs);
- capsules: No. 1, hard gelatinous, with a white body and a green lid; the contents of the capsules are a mass of white or almost white color (10 pcs. in a blister strip, in a cardboard box 1 or 3 packs).
1 tablet contains:
- active ingredient: sygetin (mesodiethylethylenedibenzenesulfonate dipotassium dihydrate) - 100 mg;
- excipients: stearic acid, starch, microcrystalline cellulose.
1 capsule contains:
- active ingredient: sygetin (mesodiethylethylenedibenzenesulfonate dipotassium dihydrate) - 100 mg;
- excipients: stearic acid, potato starch, sucrose (sugar);
- capsule shell: indigo carmine, titanium dioxide, yellow quinoline dye, gelatin.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Mesodiethylethylenedibenzenesulfonate promotes the implementation of negative and positive feedback in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian system, stabilizes the hypothalamic center and gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland, while not exerting an estrogenic effect on target organs. The drug enhances uterine contractions, activates placental blood flow, increases the level of beta-lipoproteins in the blood and glucose utilization, improves tissue sensitivity to the action of insulin.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Sagenit is used for climacteric syndrome, the characteristic features of which are: increased sweating, "hot flashes", degenerative changes in the skin and mucous membranes (thinning of the skin, brittle nails, the formation of wrinkles, dystrophy of the urinary tract mucosa), sleep disturbance, depression, irritability, forgetfulness.
Contraindications
- metrorrhagia;
- the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Sagenit should be taken with caution in women with impaired liver function, renal failure, hyperlipoproteinemia.

Pills
It is taken orally, regardless of the meal.
Recommended dosage: 1 tablet per day, duration of treatment is 30-40 days. The maximum daily dose is 2 tablets.

Side effects
- allergic reactions: rarely - eyelid edema, skin rash;
- others: rarely - nausea, vomiting, metrorrhagia, dizziness, cholestatic jaundice.
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose of Sagenita are hemorrhagic shock and metrorrhagia. In this case, the drug is immediately canceled, blood transfusion and parenteral administration of blood substitutes are prescribed.

Patients with diabetes should take into account that the sucrose content in one capsule is 50 mg.
