Release form and composition
Dosage form of Codelac Broncho - tablets: flat-cylindrical, with a chamfer and a dividing line, from cream with a yellow tint to light cream with dark and light inclusions (10 pieces in a blister strip, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 packs).
1 tablet contains:
- active ingredients: sodium bicarbonate - 200 mg, sodium glycyrrhizinate - 30 mg, ambroxol hydrochloride - 20 mg, thermopsis dry extract - 10 mg;
- auxiliary components: microcrystalline cellulose, potato starch, kollidon K25 (povidone K25), sodium carboxymethyl starch (primogel, sodium starch glycolate), stearic acid, talc.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Codelac Broncho is a drug for the treatment of cough. It has mucolytic, expectorant and anti-inflammatory activity. The mechanism of its action is due to the pharmacological properties of the active components of the composition:
- sodium bicarbonate: promotes alkalization of bronchial mucus, decreases the viscosity of sputum, stimulates the motor function of bronchioles and ciliated epithelium;
- glycyrrhizic acid and its salts (glycyrrate): have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-allergic effects. Antioxidant and membrane stabilizing activity of glycyrrate gives the drug a cytoprotective effect. The pronounced anti-inflammatory activity reduces the inflammatory process in the respiratory tract, potentiates the action of endogenous glucocorticosteroids;
- Ambroxol: has a secretomotor, secretolytic and expectorant effect, restores the ratio of mucous and serous sputum contents, increases the secretion of surfactant in the alveoli. Reducing viscosity, promotes sputum discharge;
- thermopsis extract: has an expectorant effect. Causing moderate irritation of the receptors of the gastric mucosa, reflexively increases the secretion of the bronchial glands.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Codelac Broncho is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases, accompanied by difficulty in sputum discharge:
- chronic and acute forms of bronchitis;
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;
- pneumonia;
- bronchiectasis.
Contraindications
- age up to 12 years;
- period of pregnancy;
- breast-feeding;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
It is recommended to use with caution Codelac Broncho in bronchial asthma, liver failure, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, renal failure.
Instructions for use of Codelac Broncho: method and dosage
Codelac Broncho tablets are intended to be taken orally with meals.
Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 3 times a day. The duration of the course of therapy is 4–5 days.

Side effects
- from the respiratory system: rarely - rhinorrhea, dryness of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract;
- from the central nervous system: rarely - headache, weakness;
- from the digestive system: rarely - dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation; against the background of long-term use of high doses - nausea, vomiting, gastralgia;
- others: rarely - allergic reactions, dysuria, exanthema.
Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia.
Treatment: gastric lavage, preferably within the first 2 hours after taking an increased dose of the drug. Symptomatic therapy.

Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
It should not be used in combination with antitussive drugs.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The use of Codelac Broncho tablets during gestation and breastfeeding is contraindicated.
Pediatric use
Prescription of the drug is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
With impaired renal function
Patients with renal insufficiency are advised to take the tablets with caution.
If liver function is impaired
Caution should be exercised in patients with hepatic impairment.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of Codelac Broncho:
- with antitussives: reducing cough, the latter make it difficult for sputum to pass;
- with antibiotics: the penetration of antibiotics into the bronchial secretions increases.
