Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The active component of the drug Lactozhinal is a gram-positive rod-shaped anaerobic non-spore-forming bacteria of the species Lactobacillus casei (L. casei), which are representatives of the normal obligate microflora of the oral cavity, intestines, vulva and vagina of a person.

Along with such species of lactobacilli as L. acidophilus, L. cellobiosum, L. fermentum and others, L. casei are present in the natural microflora of the vulva and vagina of a woman. The Lactozhinal preparation contains the L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini strain, which exhibits antagonistic activity against a wide range of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms (including enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus spp., Proteus spp.). It improves local metabolism, helping to restore natural local immunity. In the vagina, colonization with live rods of L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini creates a physiological environment.

After intravaginal administration, the gelatinous shell of the Lactozhinal capsule dissolves, releasing a lyophilized culture of live lactobacilli. As a result of in vitro studies, it was found that within a few hours L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini shift the acid-base balance towards higher acidity, lowering the pH. Due to this, the introduction of this strain of lactobacilli into the vagina helps to restore its natural microflora.

One of the important reasons for the development of vulvovaginal candidiasis in women is a deficiency of lactobacilli, physiological antagonists of yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini bacteria are involved in the secretion of antifungal agents and inhibit the growth and reproduction of Candida by competing for receptors in the vaginal epithelium, thereby inhibiting the attachment of yeast-like fungi to vaginal cells. In the course of clinical studies, the effectiveness of the use of Lactozhinal capsules after the end of antifungal therapy has been proven in order to restore normal vaginal microflora and prevent recurrence of vulvovaginal candidiasis.

In vitro resistance of L. casei subsp. rhamnosus LCR35 in co-cultivation with a number of antibiotics, including metronidazole and clindamycin. In studies both in vitro and in vivo, the phenomenon of potentiation of the effectiveness of antibacterial drugs by metabolites of the probiotic strain L. casei subsp. rhamnosus LCR35. That can enhance the clinical effect of antibiotic therapy for bacterial vaginosis, provided it is used simultaneously with Lactozhinal capsules.

As a result of a clinical study of the treatment of vaginal dysbiosis, the effectiveness of the drug Lactozhinal has been proven when it is used simultaneously with an antibacterial vaginal cream containing clindamycin (2%).
