Lactonorm is a drug that normalizes the vaginal microflora.
Release form and composition
Dosage forms:
- vaginal capsules: gelatinous, hard, size No. 0, transparent, powder filler from light brown to white with possible inclusions (in a polymer can 14 or 28 pcs., in a cardboard box 1 can complete with a plastic applicator or without it);
- suppositories (in a plastic package 5 pcs., in a cardboard box 2 packages).
Composition of 1 capsule Lactonorm:
- active substance: Lactobacillus acidophilus - at least 10 8 CFU (colony forming units);
- auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate;
- shell: gelatin.
Composition of 1 suppository Lactonorm:
- active substance: live lactobacilli strains Lactobacillus plantarum 8P-A3 or L. plantarum 38, or L. fermentum 39, or L. fermentum 90T-C4 - not less than 2 * 10 9 CFU;
- auxiliary components: polyethylene oxide 400, polyethylene oxide 1500.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Lactonorm contains live acidophilic lactobacilli strains NK1, NK2, NK5, NK12 of the acidophilic type, which are representatives of normal human microflora. Lactobacillus is the dominant bacterial species in the microbiological environment of the vagina. Lactonorm helps to increase the number of beneficial microorganisms in the vaginal microflora, as a result of which: improves metabolic processes; prevents the development of protracted forms of diseases associated with imbalance of microflora; increases the body's resistance to any pathogenic influences.
Indications for use
- vaginal dysbiosis in acute, subacute, chronic vulvitis and vaginitis, bacterial vaginosis after the use of antibacterial drugs, postmenopausal atrophic vaginitis: as part of complex therapy for treatment and prevention;
- dysbiotic disorders of the urogenital tract against the background of antibiotic therapy and postoperative infectious complications: for prevention;
- prenatal preparation of pregnant women at risk for inflammatory diseases, preparation for planned gynecological operations.
Contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Lactonorm is vulvovaginal candidiasis.
Instructions for use of Lactonorm: method and dosage
Lactonorm suppositories and capsules are used intravaginally.
Before carrying out the procedure for administering the drug, wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
Suppositories and capsules without an applicator are inserted with a finger as deep as possible into the vagina while lying down.
To use the applicator, the vaginal capsule is placed in its opening by slightly pulling the plunger to fix the capsule. In the supine position, the applicator is inserted as deeply as possible (without causing painful sensations) into the vagina and slowly until it stops pressing the plunger to exit the capsule. After carefully removing the applicator, it is disassembled, washed thoroughly with warm water and soap, rinsed with boiled water and dried at room temperature when disassembled. Assemble the applicator before the next use.
Recommended dosage regimen:
- for treatment: 1 vaginal capsule (suppository) 2 times a day, morning and evening, for 7 days. If necessary, the course of therapy can be extended;
- for prophylaxis: 1 vaginal capsule (suppository) 1 time per day at night for 7-14 days.
Treatment and prophylaxis is recommended to start immediately after menstruation.
Side effects
When using Lactonorm according to the recommended dosage regimen, side effects are not observed. In rare cases, allergic reactions are likely.
Overdose
Drug overdose is unlikely.

It is impossible to allow the heating of the drug and its storage outside the refrigerator, since this leads to the death of living lactobacilli and a decrease in the beneficial properties of Lactonorm. Storage of the drug without observing the temperature regime is allowed for no more than 8 hours.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
According to the instructions, Lactonorm can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, the use of the applicator is not recommended for pregnant women.
Pediatric use
For girls and girls under 18 years of age, the appropriateness of using the drug is determined by the doctor, depending on the nature of the disease and individual biological characteristics.
