  • additional components: potato starch, sorbitol, maltodextrin, pregelatinized corn starch, natural flavoring "Mint", magnesium stearate, sodium saccharin, talc.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

IZHOGOFF is a local antacid drug. The active components of the drug are magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate. In the presence of excess hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice, they lead to a quick and long-term neutralization of the latter, thereby protecting the gastric mucosa. The high calcium content in the preparation and good solubility help to achieve a positive effect within 3-5 minutes.

Pharmacokinetics

The result of the interaction of the antacid agent with gastric juice in the stomach is the formation of soluble magnesium and calcium salts. The degree of absorption from these compounds of calcium and magnesium depends on the dose of the drug. The maximum absorption for calcium and magnesium is 10% and 15–20%, respectively. A small amount of absorbed above elements are eliminated by the kidneys. From soluble salts in the intestine, insoluble compounds are formed, which are subsequently excreted with feces.

Indications for use

IZHOGOFF is recommended for use in the development of the following symptoms caused by reflux esophagitis and increased acidity of gastric juice:

  • a feeling of overflow or heaviness in the epigastric region;
  • sour belching;
  • heartburn;
  • dyspeptic symptoms, including those associated with taking medications, errors in diet, abuse of nicotine, alcohol, coffee;
  • recurrent pain in the stomach.

Also IZHOGOFF is used in the treatment of dyspepsia in pregnant women.

Contraindications

  • hypophosphatemia;
  • hypercalcemia;
  • nephrocalcinosis;
  • severe renal impairment;
  • age up to 12 years;
  • rare hereditary fructose intolerance;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of the product.

IZZHOGOFF, instructions for use: method and dosage

IZHOGOFF chewable tablets are taken by chewing or holding in the mouth until completely dissolved.

In the absence of other doctor's recommendations, in the event of the appearance of the corresponding symptoms, the drug should be taken in a dose of 1-2 tablets. If necessary, you can re-take the drug after 2 hours.

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 11 tablets.

Side effects

When using IZHOGOFF in the recommended doses, it is usually well tolerated. However, sometimes during treatment, the development of allergic reactions may occur, including Quincke's edema, rash, anaphylactic reactions.

Overdose

A long course of therapy in high doses against the background of impaired renal function can lead to the development of such phenomena as hypercalcemia, hypermagnesemia, alkalosis, accompanied by muscle weakness, nausea, and vomiting. In this condition, it is required to cancel the drug and urgently consult a doctor.

special instructions

If the antacid is used in high doses, the risk of kidney calculus is exacerbated.

IZHOGOFF can be used in patients with diabetes mellitus; 1 tablet contains 369.5 mg of sorbitol.

If after taking the drug there is no improvement in the condition, you need to seek the advice of a specialist.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

IZZHOGOFF does not adversely affect the ability to drive vehicles and perform other potentially hazardous activities.

Pediatric use

Treatment with the drug is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.

With impaired renal function

With impaired renal function, the plasma content of calcium and magnesium may increase. IZHOGOFF is not used in patients with severe renal failure.

When using the drug in persons with functional impairment of the kidneys, it is required to regularly monitor serum levels of phosphorus, magnesium and calcium. Patients in this group should not take high doses of IZHOGOFF for a long time.

Drug interactions

With the simultaneous administration of an antacid drug with other drugs, the following reactions are possible:

  • fluoroquinolones, iron preparations, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, cardiac glycosides, fluorides, phosphates: absorption of these agents decreases;
  • thiazide diuretics: interaction may develop, it is required to regularly determine the serum calcium concentration;
  • other drugs: the rate and degree of absorption of all drugs taken simultaneously decreases due to changes in the acidity of gastric juice; it is recommended to take any therapy 1–2 hours before or after using the antacid.
