Gold Star Balsam is a herbal medicinal preparation with antiseptic, local irritating and distracting effects.

Release form and composition

  • balm: solid, homogeneous mass of yellow-brown color with a specific smell of essential oils (4 g in a tin can, in a cardboard box 1 can);
  • liquid balm: a clear brown-red liquid with a smell characteristic of essential oils (5 ml in a white glass bottle, 1 bottle in a cardboard box);
  • inhalation pencil: a cylindrical cellulose acetate filter impregnated with a solution of active ingredients, with an odor characteristic of essential oils (1.3 g filter in a white polyethylene tube with a polyethylene cap, 1 tube in a cardboard box).

4 g of balm contains:

  • active ingredients: racemic camphor - 910 mg, levomenthol - 455 mg, peppermint oil - 0.59 ml, clove flower oil - 0.228 ml, eucalyptus leaf oil - 0.14 ml, Chinese cinnamon oil - 0.053 ml;
  • additional components: paraffin, beeswax, anhydrous lanolin, liquid paraffin, petroleum jelly.

5 ml of liquid balm contains:

  • active ingredients: L-menthol (crystalline menthol) - 1400 mg, peppermint oil - 1145 mg, camphor - 444 mg, clove oil - 23 mg, cinnamon oil - 19 mg, eucalyptus oil - 5 mg;
  • additional component: liquid paraffin.

Gold Star Balm has local irritating, antiseptic and distracting effects. The therapeutic effect of the agent is determined by the essential oils included in its composition, obtained from medicinal plants, as well as their derivatives with the following properties:

  • Chinese cinnamon oil (Chinese cinnamon oil): the product demonstrates a decongestant, disinfecting, warming, analgesic and antidepressant effect; promotes the fastest recovery from colds and diseases of the nervous system; according to research by Indian scientists, cinnamon oil has a positive effect on the growth of brain neuronal cells;
  • peppermint oil: mint leaves contain hesperidin, carotene, glucose, betaine, rhamnose, oleanolic and linoleic acids; the agent is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases, migraines, neuralgia, with itching, as well as to relieve muscle pain; use against the background of lesions of the upper respiratory tract helps to eliminate edema;
  • clove flower oil: the plant exhibits a pronounced antiseptic, antispasmodic, strengthening, stimulating and carminative properties, its oil is characterized by a warming and analgesic effect, due to which the use of the agent is effective against the background of neuralgia, arthritis and rheumatism;
  • eucalyptus leaf oil: the product has antimicrobial and analgesic effects, is useful in the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, lumbago; the plant is used to treat abscesses, phlegmon, mastitis and other lesions;
  • camphor: the substance provides a warming effect, as a result of which it is used for such joint diseases as arthritis and arthrosis, as well as for rheumatism and radiculitis; used to treat pressure ulcers in critically ill patients; camphor fights microbes, effectively liquefies phlegm and promotes its discharge, which plays an important role in the treatment of tracheitis and bronchitis;
  • menthol: one of the main components of peppermint essential oil, it exhibits distracting and analgesic effects due to reflex reactions associated with the influence on sensitive nerve endings; has antiseptic activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Indications for use

Balm and liquid balm as a symptomatic agent are recommended for use in the combined treatment of the following diseases:

  • flu;
  • acute respiratory diseases - acute respiratory infections (balm);
  • dizziness (balm);
  • headache;
  • colds (liquid balm);
  • rhinitis.

Also, these drugs are used for insect bites.
