Solution for intramuscular injection Drastop
Solution for intramuscular injection Drastop

Drastop is a drug that stimulates tissue repair.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of a solution for intramuscular administration of 100 mg / ml: transparent, has a yellowish color (2 ml in an ampoule made of transparent colorless glass with a white break ring, 5 ampoules in a blister strip, 1 or 2 packages in a cardboard box together with instructions for use).

1 ml of solution contains:

  • active substance: chondroitin sodium sulfate - 100 mg;
  • auxiliary substances: benzyl alcohol - 12 mg, sodium hydroxide solution 1% or 0.1 M hydrochloric acid solution - up to pH 6.5–6.8, water for injection - up to 1 ml.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The drug has a regenerating, chondrostimulating, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Strengthens metabolic processes in fibrous and hyaline cartilage, subchondral bone, has chondroprotective properties. Chondroitin sulfate takes part in the construction of the basic substance of bone and cartilage tissue, inhibits enzymes that destroy articular cartilage, and stimulates the production of proteoglycans by chondrocytes. It slows down bone resorption and also reduces calcium loss. Increases the rate of bone tissue repair processes, suppresses the secretion of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, reduces the release of inflammatory mediators and pain factors into the synovial fluid, reduces the rate of progression of osteochondrosis, as well as osteoporosis. Chondroitin sulfate prevents connective tissue collapse,normalizes the production of joint fluid, and also helps to restore the cartilaginous surfaces of the joints and the joint capsule.

In cases where degenerative diseases of the joints are treated, accompanied by secondary synovitis, the effect of the treatment is visible already after 2-3 weeks from the beginning of the use of chondroitin sulfate.

While taking the drug, as well as for a long time after the end of therapy, there is a decrease in pain and an increase in the mobility of the affected joints.

The drug has a structural similarity to heparin, due to which it can prevent the formation of fibrin thrombi in the subchondral microvasculature.

Pharmacokinetics

The active substance of the drug is rapidly absorbed after intramuscular administration. After 30 minutes, it is found in the blood in high concentrations, after an hour, the maximum concentration of chondroitin sodium sulfate is reached in the plasma, after which it gradually decreases within 2 days.

The drug easily penetrates through the synovium into the joint cavity. It accumulates mainly in the cartilage that forms the joints. Chondroitin sulfate is found in synovial fluid 15 minutes after intramuscular injection, then it penetrates into the articular cartilage, where its maximum concentration is reached 48 hours after injection.

Indications for use
