Dicetel is an antispasmodic drug with m-anticholinergic and myotropic action.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - film-coated tablets: round, orange, on each of the convex sides there is an engraving: on one - the letter S above the triangular icon, on the other - the number 50 or 100, corresponding to the content of the active substance in the tablet (20 pcs. in blisters, in a cardboard box 1 blister and instructions for use of Dicetel).

The active substance is pinaveria bromide, in 1 tablet - 50 or 100 mg.

Auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, talc.

The composition of the film shell: butyl methacrylate copolymer, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, stearic acid, dry sepispers 3203 (microcrystalline cellulose (E460), hypromellose (E464), sunset yellow dye (aluminum lacquer) (E110), titanium dioxide (E171)).

Dicetel is an antispasmodic agent with a selective effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Inhibits the flow of calcium into the cells of the intestinal smooth muscles.

In animal studies, it was found that pinaverium bromide reduces the effects of stimulating sensitive neurons. It has no anticholinergic effect, it does not affect the cardiovascular system.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, pinaverium bromide is rapidly absorbed and reaches its maximum plasma concentration in 60 minutes. The substance has a high ability of binding to plasma proteins (approximately 95-96%).

Pinaverium bromide is actively metabolized in the liver. The half-life is 1.5 hours. The absolute bioavailability is very low (up to 1%). It is excreted from the body mainly with feces.

Indications for use

The use of Dicetel is indicated for symptomatic therapy:

  • Discomfort caused by a functional disorder of the intestines, pain, impaired motility of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT);
  • Pain associated with a functional disorder of the biliary tract.

In addition, Dicetel is prescribed in preparation for an X-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract using barium sulfate.

Contraindications

  • Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency;
  • Age under 18;
  • Breastfeeding period;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

With caution, Dicetel tablets are prescribed during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, since there is a risk of neurological disorders in the infant. Use is allowed if the intended benefit of the drug to the mother outweighs the potential harm to the fetus.

The tablets are taken orally during meals, swallowing whole (without dissolving or chewing), and washed down with plenty of water in order to prevent contact of the active substance with the esophageal mucosa.

Recommended daily dosage of Dicetel:

  • Film-coated tablets, 50 mg each: 1 pc. 3 times or 2 pcs. 2 times a day, in some cases the daily dose may be 6 tablets (2 pcs. 3 times). To prepare for an X-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract, the patient should take 2 pcs. 2 times a day for 3 days before the procedure;
  • Film-coated tablets, 100 mg: 1 pc. 2 times a day, depending on clinical indications, the frequency can be increased up to 3 times a day. Before X-ray examination, the patient is prescribed 1 piece. 2 times a day for 3 days.

Side effects

The use of Dicetel can cause side effects:

  • From the digestive system: nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, dysphagia; non-observance of the recommendations for taking the drug can lead to damage to the esophageal mucosa;
  • From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions;
  • From the side of the skin: rash, urticaria, itching, erythema.

Overdose

Main symptoms: gastrointestinal upset, including flatulence and diarrhea.
