Giperprost - alpha 1 -adrenergic blocker; a drug for the treatment of urinary disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - capsules of prolonged action: size No. 1, gelatinous solid, with a blue body and a blue lid; content - white or almost white pellets (in blisters of 10 pcs., 1 or 3 packs in a carton box).
Active ingredient: tamsulosin hydrochloride, in 1 capsule - 400 mcg.
Additional substances:
- auxiliary components: ethylcellulose, sucrose, mannitol, povidone;
- shell: indigo carmine, gelatin, water, titanium dioxide.
Indications for use
Giperprost is used to treat the functional symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (dysuric disorders).
Contraindications
The drug is contraindicated in case of known sensitivity to any of its components.
Caution during treatment should be observed in the following cases: chronic renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml / min), severe hepatic failure, arterial hypotension, predisposition to orthostatic hypotension.
Method of administration and dosage
Giperprost is shown to be taken orally in the morning, after breakfast: swallow the capsules whole with sufficient water.
The recommended dose for adults is 1 capsule per day.
Side effects
Hyperprost is generally well tolerated. In rare and isolated cases, the following side effects occur:
- from the reproductive system: decreased libido, retrograde ejaculation;
- on the part of the cardiovascular system: chest pain, palpitations, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension;
- from the digestive system: nausea, constipation / diarrhea, vomiting;
- from the central nervous system: sleep disturbance (drowsiness or insomnia), dizziness, headache, asthenia;
- allergic reactions: itching, skin rashes, angioedema;
- others: rhinitis, back pain.

Hyperprost should be used only after a complete examination and confirmation of the diagnosis.
When the first signs of orthostatic hypotension appear - weakness and dizziness - the patient should be laid down or seated.
During treatment, it is recommended to exercise caution when performing activities with potentially dangerous consequences that require the speed of mental and physical reactions.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of cimetidine helps to increase the concentration of tamsulosin in the blood plasma, furosemide - to decrease. However, these indicators are insignificant, therefore, do not require a change in the dose of the drug.
Warfarin and diclofenac can increase the rate of elimination of tamsulosin.
In the case of the combined use of other alpha 1 -adrenergic blockers, a pronounced decrease in blood pressure is possible.
