Gino-Tardiferon - combined antanemic comprising iron and vitamin B c (folic acid).

Release form and composition

Dosage form - tablets of prolonged action, film-coated: convex on both sides, from white to light beige, with a smooth surface; cross-section - brown with white edging (in blisters of 10 pcs., 3 blisters in a cardboard box).

Active ingredients in 1 tablet:

  • iron sulfate hydrate - 256.3 mg, which corresponds to 80 mg of iron;
  • vitamin B c (folic acid) - 0.35 mg.

Additional substances:

  • auxiliary components: potato starch, mucoproteose (anhydrous), povidone, eudragit S, magnesium trisilicate, magnesium stearate, dibutyl phthalate, ascorbic acid, hydrogenated castor oil, talc;
  • shell: Eudragit E, white beeswax, titanium dioxide, hard paraffin, talc, sucrose.

Indications for use

Gyno-Tardiferon is used for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia of various origins, including during pregnancy, with an unbalanced and inadequate diet, prolonged bleeding and disorders of iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).

Contraindications

  • violation of the mechanisms of iron utilization (sideroachrestic and anemia caused by lead poisoning);
  • increased iron content in the body (for example, with hemosiderosis);
  • anemias not associated with a deficiency of iron or folic acid (for example, hemolytic or megaloblastic, associated with an isolated deficiency of vitamin B 12);
  • obstructive gastrointestinal changes and / or esophageal stenosis;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • hypersensitivity to drug components.

Carefully:

  • alcoholism;
  • renal and hepatic impairment;
  • intestinal diseases of an inflammatory nature.

Method of administration and dosage

Gyno-Tardiferon should be taken orally.

With anemia, depending on the severity, appoint:

  • mild course - 1 tablet 1 time per day before breakfast;
  • moderate course - 1 tablet 2 times a day;
  • severe course - 1 tablet 3 times a day.

The drug should be taken until the normal level of hemoglobin is restored and for another 2-3 months to replenish iron stores.

For the prevention of iron and folic acid deficiency during pregnancy and lactation, 1 tablet is prescribed 1 time per day during the II-III trimesters and during breastfeeding.

Side effects

Gyno-Tardiferon is generally well tolerated. In rare cases, it causes side effects from the digestive system, such as epigastric pain, nausea, constipation or diarrhea.

Before prescribing the drug, an analysis is made for the content of iron and ferritin in the blood serum.

While taking Gyno-Tardiferon, the stool may darken. This phenomenon has no clinical significance, but is due to the excretion of non-absorbed iron.

Drug interactions

  • ascorbic acid and ethanol increase the absorption of Gyno-Tardiferon, as a result of which the risk of developing toxic complications increases;
  • etidronic acid, pancreatin, pancrelipase, calcium preparations, antacids and drugs that reduce the acidity of gastric juice, including cimetidine, drugs containing oxalates, phosphates, carbonates and bicarbonates, reduce the absorption of Gyno-Tardiferon.

Cereals, vegetables, tea, coffee, milk, and egg yolk reduce absorption of the drug, so it should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after consuming these foods.

Gyno-Tardiferon reduces the absorption of tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones and penicillamine, in large doses - reduces the absorption of zinc preparations. The listed funds are recommended to be taken 2 hours before or 2 hours after the iron supplement.
