Gerpferon is a combined drug with antiviral, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects.

Release form and composition

The dosage form is an ointment for external and local use: white or white with a creamy shade, has a weak specific odor (in aluminum tubes of 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 g, 1 tube in a cardboard box).

Active ingredients:

  • Recombinant human interferon alpha-2b - at least 20,000 IU (international units);
  • Acyclovir - 30 mg;
  • Lidocaine hydrochloride - 10 mg

Additional substances: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, macrogol 400 and macrogol 1500.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Gerpferon is a combined agent for external use, which, thanks to its components, has an antiviral, immunomodulatory, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Properties of individual components of the drug:

  • acyclovir - has a pronounced antiviral effect, shows high activity against the herpes simplex virus (Herpes simplex) of the 1st and 2nd types, as well as the varicella zoster virus (Varicella zoster), which causes shingles and chickenpox;
  • interferon alpha-2b human recombinant - characterized by a pronounced antiviral property (suppresses the replication of the virus in infected cells) and immunomodulatory activity (enhances the phagocytic activity of macrophages in the lesions);
  • lidocaine - has a local analgesic and mild antipruritic effect.

In combination, the active ingredients of the ointment provide a pronounced antiherpetic effect: they prevent the formation of new elements of the rash, accelerate the healing of existing rashes, reduce pain, and reduce the likelihood of skin dissemination.

Pharmacokinetics

Considering the local method of application of Gerpferon ointment, the systemic absorption of its active components is low: in the absence of lesions, absorption is minimal (the drug is not detected in the blood and urine), in the presence of lesions on the skin, absorption is moderate.

Indications for use

  • Herpetic lesions of the skin and / or mucous membranes (both primary and recurrent);
  • Herpes zoster;
  • Genital herpes.

Contraindications
