Gastenorm forte is a drug that compensates for the lack of pancreatic enzymes.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of the release of Gastenorm forte is enteric-coated tablets: almost white or white, biconvex, round; a slightly rough surface is permissible (10 pcs. in blisters, in a cardboard box 2 or 5 blisters).
Active ingredient in 1 tablet: pancreatin - 140 mg; has the following minimum enzymatic activity:
- amylase - 4200 UNITS FIP (units of action of the International Pharmaceutical Federation);
- lipase - 3500 units;
- protease - 250 units
Auxiliary components:
- core: sodium glycolate - 20 mg; povidone K30 - 0.3 mg; sodium chloride - 10.2 mg; lactose monohydrate - 40 mg; microcrystalline cellulose - 40 mg; magnesium stearate - 0.3 mg; talc - 4 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide - 0.2 mg;

Indications for use
- insufficiency of exocrine pancreatic function (cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, etc.);
- preparation for x-ray / ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs;
- errors in nutrition in patients with normal function of the gastrointestinal tract (in order to improve digestion), as well as impaired chewing function, forced prolonged immobilization, a sedentary lifestyle;
- inflammatory and dystrophic diseases of the intestines, stomach, gallbladder, liver in a chronic course, as well as conditions after removal / irradiation of these organs, occurring with flatulence, impaired digestion, diarrhea (in combination with other drugs).
Contraindications
- chronic pancreatitis (with exacerbation);
- acute pancreatitis;
- age up to 3 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Pregnant women can take Gastenorm forte only in cases where the expected benefit is higher than the possible harm (due to the lack of necessary clinical studies).
Method of administration and dosage
Gastenorm forte is taken orally with a sufficient amount of liquid during meals. Do not chew the tablets.
The doctor prescribes the dose individually, it is determined by the degree of indigestion.
In the absence of other prescriptions, adults are advised to observe the following dosage regimen: 1-4 tablets with meals. Do not exceed 15,000 U / kg of enzymes (in terms of lipase) per day.
Children are advised to consult a doctor before taking the drug. Average dose - 1 tablet 3 times a day.
The duration of the course can vary significantly: from a single dose or several days (in cases of a disturbance in the digestion process associated with inaccuracies in the diet) to several months / years (in patients with the need for constant substitution therapy).
Side effects
Possible violations: hypersensitivity reactions (in the form of sneezing, lacrimation, skin rash).
In rare cases, the development of diarrhea or constipation, nausea, discomfort in the epigastric region may occur.
When conducting a long course with high doses of Gastenorm forte, the following side effects are possible: hyperuricosuria, an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood plasma.
In patients with cystic fibrosis, in cases of exceeding the required dose of pancreatin, strictures may occur in the ascending colon and ileocecal region.
In children, taking high doses of Gastenorm forte can lead to the development of perianal irritation and irritation of the oral mucosa.

In cases of a long course of Gastenorm forte, it is recommended to take it simultaneously with iron preparations.
Drug interactions
With the combined use of Gastenorm forte with certain drugs / substances, the following effects may develop:
- iron preparations: their absorption decreases;
- antacids containing calcium carbonate and / or magnesium hydroxide: the effectiveness of pancreatin decreases.
