Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Benzydamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the indazole group. It has anti-inflammatory and local analgesic effects, exhibits antiseptic properties against a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms.

The use of Vertum ENT helps to stabilize the cell membranes and inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins.

The antibacterial and specific antimicrobial properties of benzydamine are due to its rapid penetration through the membranes of microorganisms, where it damages cellular structures, disrupts metabolic processes and destroys cell lysosomes.

Shows antifungal action against Candida albicans. It causes structural changes in the cell wall of fungi and their metabolic chains, thereby preventing their reproduction. This effect served as the basis for the use of benzydamine for the relief of inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, including those with an infectious etiology.

Pharmacokinetics

Topically applied benzydamine is well absorbed from the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat and penetrates into inflamed tissues. It is contained in blood plasma in a small amount, which is not enough for the manifestation of systemic effects

Excretion of benzydamine is carried out mainly in the urine in the form of conjugation products or metabolites that do not have pharmacological activity.

Indications for use

Vertum ENT is used for symptomatic treatment of pain syndrome of inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and ENT organs (of various etiology):

  • candidiasis of the oral mucosa - in combination with other drugs;
  • tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis;
